Meh.  The Senators were in DC forever and were awful.  Even with Walter Johnson on the team. Twice the Senators franchise left DC and went elsewhere, where both versions have flourished.

The Nats came from Montreal and have already won a WS.

I was referring to expanding beyond the 30 teams that already exist.

Can Buehler make it through the 5th.  Relatively high pitch count, lots of runners.  This looks like one of those times AC pulls the pitcher with 2 outs in 5th.

Maybe, maybe not.  San Antonio, Jacksonville, San Jose, and even Charlotte have the population to support a MLB team.

Your issue is with the quality of players available and you could be right.

Nice catch by Anthony. I have said he has looked tentative in right. Not there.

He has not looked tentative to me.  I do think he likes to avoid collisions with stands, walls, and other players--which to me makes all kinds of sense.

80 pitches for Buehler in 4 innings. Surprising he has not walked a batter.

I think that's been his mantra today.  When the batter gets ball 3, thrown fat pitches.

Interesting comment.  9-2 lead plus the notion of rewarding success say he won't.

Clean inning.  Put a game in the win column for Buehler.

Buehler gets his 5 full and in line for the win.   He pitches much better, more consistent from the full windup, instead of the stretch.

He should be out to open the 6th  after 89 pitches through 5.  Get the quality start, walker without walking anyone

You always think they can another out or two., right, Grady?

Weissert better have something today.    This is actually the role Whitlock should be in for a 2 inning/6 out job.

Actually, the LACK of quality.

During that episode where Grady didn't pull Pedro, JH asked someone sitting next to him "do we have to wait until the game's over to fire him?"

Jays win in extra innings but beat LAA so we'll gain one full game on them. We were tied for 4th wild card spot.

Was rafeala holding his back????   Do you think he got injured???

Frightening.  Also his encounter with the centerfield wall.  It's Rafaela.

No doubt.  And don't forget he fired Francona (who won 2WS with the Sox)after the 2011 season, his replacement after the 2012 season, Farrell after a WS in 2013 and Division titles in 2016 and 2017, and Cora's replacement after 1 season.

Right now I'm pretty happy with the Sox because the hitting seems to be coming back without Bregman or Devers.  If Buehler, is back--and today was only one good sign--that's 4 viable starters with Dobbins due back.

When Bregman returns next week, if he does, he makes the hitting and fielding both better.

Not a real train wreck. More like a Lionel train wreck.

You are the best.

That's wrap.

It's important that Bello pitches Monday vs Rockies so he can pitch the 4th game against the Rays on Sunday. Bello pitched in relief of Fitts.

Hopefully Dobbins will be back to pitch the third game vs the Rockies. No days off until All-Star Games. Okay, just saw that Dobbins pitched or scheduled to pitch today so he won't pitch until Friday next week at the earliest.

All good points.

Bello went 5 and threw 62 pitches on July 1, so he should be good to start Monday and again vs the Rays.

Dobbins went 5 IP tonight vs AA Fisher Cats and gave up 1 run and 2 hits.  He K'd 8 and walked 0.   He just might be available for the Rays series.
