So the Pats are worth looking forward to?

They will be more interesting this year than the last few. They added Diggs, a number 1 receiver and some very good defensive players. They also had a very good draft by all accounts. They have one of the weakest if not the weakest schedule and I think I read somewhere where they are favored in 11 games.

A prescient point.  It's that lousy lineup that enabled the Angels to jump out to a 6-0 lead in the top half of the 1st inning.

This fixation on lineups is just stupid.

Are you denying that the lineup, especially since bregman went down, has struggled?

We get run back on back to back doubles by Duran and Devers. They need to come to the plate 5 more times to tie the game. Okay....

Brez, what have you done to our team?

Pittsburgh has no intention of trading Skenes per MassLive article. He is under team control for 4 more years beginning 2026.

Pirates have Cruz in CF with OPS of .873 and McCuthen as DH with OPS of .730. Their OPS team ranking by each position is 2-9-9-10-12-12-13-15-15. They need tons of help. But they are very cheap. They require tons of team controlled players.

Would you give up say, Duran, Abreu (replace him with Anthony), Campbell, Fitts, Dobbins and a couple more minor leaguers plus money for Skenes?

We would still have Narvarez, Gonzalez(Casas), Hamilton, Story, Mayer, Password, Rafaela, Anthony, and Devers. We'll get Bregman back and move Mayer to short and Story to 2B.

We'd have our 2nd ace.

Skenes costs Anthony plus Mayer at a minimum.  No way around.  As a Sox fan, you know Cherington is a total prospect whore.

They’re not trading Skenes yet.  But if/when they do, it won’t be for a package headlined by a player with fewer years of control..,

Keep in mind, there is no guarantee that Bregman will be back next year.   The injury certainly slows his prospects for a new deal elsewhere and his age is also becoming a factor for any team offering a 3 year deal.

At $40MM , Alex may well stay with Boston for 2026 and hope to rebuild his chances at one last big deal for his 33/34-36/37 years.

Umm, he inherited a team that went 78-84 & last place in consecutive seasons under bloom.

He got you to .500 and out of the cellar last year.

Bully for him

Screw this franchise

If he comes back and looks like he did in the beginning of the year then the chances increase that he opts out.

At this stage of his career he probably wants another shot at a ring.

Cedanne Rafaela has determined that with a life changing contract in hand,   an admittedly great glove in hand, and an "I like to swing"  attitude that there is absolutely no reason for him to learn how to hit intelligently at the MLB level.

He has hit better recently, but will always fail when facing a pitcher who has command, control and can change speed/location during his 14 3 pitch K's this season.

Campbell remains one of the 0-2 still in the on deck circle pretend hitters. Looks clueless and basically is.

As much as I really like Jarren Duran, his effort and speed,   I think he will be available at the deadline and could be attractive to a team competing for a playoff spot.    It would be possible to pry 1 or 2 decent  AA/AAA pitching prospects from such a team.

Again, not in favor of trading Jarren in July or even in the winter, but I think he can be used to address the needs.  He will not be getting rich off the Red Sox in the form of a big extension at a premium. He is, however, a premium player in my mind.

The Padres are interested in him. Their OF is banged up.

Angels living up to their lack of potential by squandering most of 6-0 lead .  Sox need a couple more key hits to wrest control of this game away from the Anaheim crew.

The ever fluctuating lineup placed Toro at 3rd tonight, where he immediately blows a chance to shut down that 1st inning.  The ball will find you, Abe

That was not a double play ball, so the Angels still score 5 in the first.

6-0

Leave Fitts out there until his damn arm falls off

To Cora's credit, he didn't send him back out for the 2d and brought Dobbins in instead.  He then pitched 5 IP so far with 1 ER.  And the Sox are down just 7-5 in the 6th.  Great move by Cora because I thought this game was winnable after the 1st inning.   Bottom line:  great managing by Cora.

Lousy at bat by Devers, swinging at 2 pitches inside.  Plus of course he hit both of them poorly--lefty vs lefty.

Close call on that 4th pitch to Ref.  He definitely swung at it but got the call. Now he gets ball 4 on a pitch in the zone.  Angels know they got screwed by the ump.

Just curious. Who's hit more HR's this season at Fenway; the Sox or the opposition?

Before Monday's game, the Red Sox had hit 34 home runs in 30 games at Fenway Park this year while opponents had hit 25 home runs.

The game was over before the Flops came to bat. Didn’t matter if it was 6-0 or 60-0
