Nonsense, there is no way that devers should be at 3rd over bregman.

devers should been handed a 1B mitt the day they signed bregman.

Instead cora and the FO played games because they were scared of hurting devers' feelings and it blew up in their face.

In terms of defense at 3B, no doubt Bregman should be there over Devers.

In terms of overall alignment and production, it's not as clear cut that the 3B/2B/DH alignment of Bregman/Campbell/Devers is better than the alignment of Devers/Bregman/Yoshida.

I agree Devers should have been taking reps at 1B.  I don't agree that he should have been our Opening Day first baseman when we had Casas there.

Until yoshi is on the big league roster this is a moot point

Yeah, Campbell had a pretty bad Spring, but the goal all along was to get him on the roster the second he showed signs of life. Is it because he's the prospect they could point to as "he's OUR developmental success story"?

I kind of think the FO felt like they had to start one of the kids, probably for that reason.  Plus, he's a right-handed bat.

Odd position to take since you are always professing defense over almost anything.

Fair point, it is an odd position for me to take.  However, my opinion is not based solely on 3B defense.  Such decisions are not made in a vacuum.  I'm not benching Bregman, I'm putting him at 2B.  Campbell's defense there has not exactly been stellar.

So you would put bregman, who has played a total of 9 games at 2B in his career and none since 2018, at 2nd base and leave devers at 3rd. Thereby potentially weakening 2 infield positions instead of shoring up 1.

Got it.........

Or, potentially strengthening 2nd base defense and strengthening our overall offense.

Mayer and Anthony were highly touted early on. Campbell kind of came out of nowhere and the Sox are taking A LOT of credit for him, rather than saying "wow, look at where all this hard work got Kristian."

IDK, they apparently thought highly of Hamilton and wouldn't part with him in trades over the winter? Looks bad in retrospect.
