Very good start by Kutter tonight.

Mets' booth throws the word 'great' around like a frisbee.

Half a dozen times in this series they've referred to Devers as a great hitter.

IMHO, Devers is a very good hitter. I have a list of whom I consider 'great' hitters, and Devers ain't on it.

Missed the first 7 innings, and the 8th is a shocker.  The Sox score 1 in the top without getting a hit:  2 walks, then an no-hit FC for Devers, a fly to bring home Duran, and the ever popular GIDP by Yoshida.  Score now 3-2, Mets.

And in strolls Martin to put the game out of reach--4 runs and 4 hits, including a dinger.  7-2, Mets.

Doesn't matter. 3 runs were already enough.

Devers first 2 pitches in the 8th were a ball right down the middle, which he stared at, followed by a pitch well below the zone, which he swung at and missed.

Despite striking out 15 times last night the Red Sox offense exploded for 2 runs, and still couldn’t get a W. What’s it going to take?

Better players.

Crawford pitched a six-inning one-homer, but there's still nope. The Mariners have the best mound men in baseball -- MLB-best ERA and Runs Against/Game -- but Seattle's batters also lead in strikeouts (the only AL team with more Ks than the Red Sox).

With 70 losses, the M's are now tied with Tampa, and both are just one game behind Boston, currently tied with Detroit, four losses out of a wild card with 23 games left.

Remember, teams with less than 90 wins have made it to the World Series the last three years (and that's not even counting the season a club won it all with 56 Ws). But can these Red Sox even win 80?

They just had Mo Vaughn on. When he led the AL in strikeouts the year he was MVP, he had a 23.6% K-rate.

That's lower than '24 Devers, Rafaela... O'Neill, Casas, Abreu... Refsnyder, Hamilton...DOM-IN-IC Smith...

... Romy Gonzalez, three Garrett Coopers, two Reese McGuires... and a Dalbec in a Woo-Staaaah.

Yeah, k's are up across MLB since 1995. It's not just a Red Sox problem. Don't know what to tell you.
