Sorry, starting the thread a touch early today, as I have to turn off my ability to access this site for a few hours to work on the new site that's hopefully coming this Sunday.

In the 29 games the SOX have played since the ASG break, the pitching has given up 59 HR's and 192 runs, however only 169 were earned. The ERA is 5.82.

All 3 of these stats are the worst in MLB during that period.

Regarding the defense, or lack of, the 23 unearned runs is also the worst.

2 HRs a game seems low, to me. It feels like 3-4 a game.

The HR and unearned runs have killed us. No doubt.

The rotation ha started to do better, but the pen has cancelled all gains.

SOX #1 prospect Mayer is back on the IL with WOO. Just what the SOX need, another injury prone hopeful.

91 games in '22 (A-/A+)

78 games in '23 (A+/AA)

77 games in '24 (AA)

(He was 20th in PAs on the farm, before this injury.)

Is dropped Cubs' reliever Hector Neris headed to the SOX? Stay tuned.

It might be worth a pickup. I run a Cubs site and what has happened to Neris is somewhat head-scratching, under different tutelage he could be a decent bounce back candidate.

His 2024 4.09 FIP is better than...

4.18 Pivetta

4.19 Weissert

4.55 Bello

4.72 Wink

4.76 Crawford

4.78 Sims

4.88 Kelly

5.98 Horn

8.77 Garcia

It is nearly as good as Bernardino's 4.01.

Going to Boston later this week for the first time in a few years. Bought Sox-Diamondback tix for Friday night right behind the Sox bullpen in RF.

I will gladly deliver, in person, any messages of encouragement any of you fellows wish to express. Have mercy if they blow any more leads .

Amazing how the first innings go when Duran leads off with a hit, then Abreu and finally Casas with a massive blast for a 3-0 lead. Then the camera goes to Cora and you can see the worry already whether the BP will be able to hold this one. Or maybe it is how many shots will Nick P. give up ?

It’s not his first IL stint.

We can't let this one slip away.

Moon, this is really getting hard to take that either the defense fails to make plays behind the pitchers , the bullpen thinks 2 strikes and 2 outs is a complete package, or guys like Pivetta blow a 3 run lead in the first inning.

The real issue for me is that too many players/pitchers seem to have no innate ability to be a winner when handed a gift.

Give Pivetta a QO or no?

Yes, then trade him as part of a package for someone with ability. I assume you can QO and still trade the jerk.

Not sure a QO guy has been traded before the season.

I think he’s ok as a #5-6 pitcher-or maybe a long relief RP when the game is already decided.

We are tied but fortunately the game is already over

Put it in the L column
