Btw, the KC starter is very good. He may have something to do with the SOX offensive impotency.

Agree. Early in the game he did throw some fat pitches, which the Sox did nothing with. Then he got sharper--and he has a good repertoire.

Some nights, the bear gets you. The Royals simply outplayed our guys--better pitching, better hitting, better fielding.

Well, at least KC's starter tomorrow, Lugo, is RH.

Perfect timing. In this series the Sox are facing the Royals 3 best starters.

He's arguably the best manager in MLB and he would like to see a full house rooting for the Sox.

I don't think the crowd has much effect, and this year it seems pretty obvious that the Sox have weak righty bats in a home ballpark that favors righty bats.

Based on Fenway's history, I'd argue and say it favors LH batters more.

Seriously? Why? That's an honest question because I just assumed that the green monster favors righty bats.

Actually Alex Cora has done a great job this year , along with Andrew Bailey, to take a no depth roster and suffer immediate season ending injuries to 2 scheduled starting pitchers , his SS and you may as well throw in Gruesome Grissom. In any given game Cora is forced to start 3 or 4 true rookies or AAA replacements with limited futures. To have this team where it currently stands is an achievement . Cora will get paid this off season and earned it.

Because it’s not hard for a lefty who is willing to go oppo to flick a ball 320-330 off of or even over the monster. How many times did we watch Boggs and Ortiz and Lynn and Devers do just that? Yaz did it early on as well.

A righty who does the same thing to right ends up with an easy fly ball out.

But 3 of the 5 lefties you named are Hall of Famers. What about Lefty Joe Lunchpail?

MLB in general favors left-handed hitters more.

Pitchers can pitch to RHBs to make it difficult to pull the ball, and many RHBs are not great at going to RF, especially with power.

Refusal to even try and use the wall at Fenway might just be why he’s Lefty Joe Lunchpail.

With one exception, successful Red Sox lefties have learned to use the wall, and that outlier was a different animal than almost anyone who ever swung a bat.
