Just tuned in to see the bums are already losing. Why aren’t the fans booing?

They should be booing from the first inning to the last.

Good riddance to these bums.

I guess not everyone is a fan the way you are.

It truly is amazing how often you tune in when the Sox are behind. It truly is amazing how you never seem to be tuned in when they are winning.

Dalbec throws the ball away. More brain dead baseball.

This team can’t disappear fast enough.

You must have been apolplectic at your teammate Butch Hobson back in 78 then.

I absolutely tune in on the few occasions that they were winning this year. You just haven’t been paying attention.

They richly deserve to be booed LOUDLY in their final home game.

It’s not just that they don’t have enough talent-it’s that they all too often play brain dead ball-like they don’t give a crap

Let’s face it Fred, you’re not happy unless you’re not happy.

That’s something YOU can face if you like. I am quite happy despite my disdain for the way these bums have played this year.

Illinois, not to pick too fine a point but in recent weeks if you waited for a Sox lead to tune in , you might have missed a lot of weak baseball by Boston. Jansen never had it so easy at the end of a season

Who's Jansen?

Turner, Devers, and the SOX as a team ending the season not with a bang, but with a whimper. The SOX peaked this season at mediocre and now there just darn right bad.

They suck

And what’s worse they have given up. The fans should rightfully be booing.

Watching the Sox play the rays this season, you realise just how much the roster will need to improve to compete with them.

The rays absolutely own the Red Sox, winning the season series 12-2 !!!

Interesting that in looking through September 2023 Sox are 7-16, and losing today, the Sox have scored 6 or more runs 7 times (26%) , but lost 4 of those games. This reinforces the impression that when they hit, they can't pitch and vice versa. They don't win when they should.

Why to be considered a fan like you, one must cheer on some real ineptitude through a stretch when teams should be competing to win. Did the group as a whole actually quit on Bloom after August 1 ? Reading Kenley Jansen's most recent interview , you would certainly think so. Why should not the fans do the same? How about observers with more baseball experience and knowledge than the typical fan on Yawkey Way pregame ? Most people on this site have a pretty good clue as to what they are seeing.

My point was more that Fred only posts when they are losing. Eventually, he’ll say I’m oughta here, only to be back complaining about something.

I don’t always get to watch the game in real time. Since I’m in the Central Time Zone, often I’ll get to see the first inning or 2 live. Then it’s dinner time and I might not get back for an hour or so (more if I’m grilling or otherwise preparing). It’s why when I do post in the game thread, there will be very little commentary by me on the middle and late innings.

I think we all have "favorites" on the game threads who range from sharp observations to just trash talk. But we also have the option of just ignoring stuff we don't agree with or using the IGNORE function to skip them altogether. The team is performing poorly enough . We should let people vent their frustrations.

Bello with a promising but not dominating season, definitely tailed off at the end, like most of the team. Last 15 games: 54.97 ERA and 1.59 WHIP. Brayan should be better next year , hopefully stronger and more consistent. He did put up 157 innings

Sox start next year with a 10 game road trip to West Coast which is both ridiculous and unfair. Avoids some late Spring New England weather, but it is still a 3 hour time difference trip from Florida. Apparently though they do get Oakland and Angels as 6 of the 10, Mariners for 4 to start, so 5-5 isn't out of the question.

Note that the Sox do also have 2 ST games at Rangers , with 2 off (travel ) days, so they will be on the road out of Ft. Myers for 14 straight days. Not good.

As I recall, that’s how the 2019 season started with suboptimal results.

OTOH …

That would be correct. 2019 started bad and got worse. Sincerely hope 2024 is a big turnaround

That is a crazy start to the season. If we can somehow go 5-5, we’ll know there will be no summer trip to those parks left on the schedule.

Since September 12 the Sox have scored 43 runs in 15 games, including tonight (2.87/game) , generating a Fenway losing record of 39-42 and 6 games under .500 with 4 to go. That is a really bad outcome after a very similar 2023.

Appropriate that they were 3 hit shutout at home . Can anyone rationally explain how an entire team fires blanks for 15+- games ?

Worst of all, you are finishing behind a bad Yankees team.

4-16 in last 20. Go Sox, beat the Orioles, or at least show up in Baltimore

They didn’t care any more. Kenley’s interview with Bradford today said a ton about what happened after the trading deadline.

As I posted somewhere yesterday, Verdugo went straight south the second half after it became apparent the Sox were not interested in extending him. Devers was trying to hit homers every AB all season. Casas got hurt, removing a big part of the offense (he was good after May). Turner got hurt and tried to play through it; it worked for a while but it caught up to him.
