Jaques' stats do reflect he is already a stinker. 19 hits in 14 innings along with 9 earned runs.

What would you call this guy with the following start to his career?

19 2/3 IP, 28 H, 13 ER

Fun fact:

In 1941 when Joe D had his 56 game hitting streak, during that same period of time Teddy Ballgame had a higher BA than Joe.

Thats because Ted Williams was the greatest hitter who ever lived!

Jock is 28, so I don't expect he'll be the next Roger the Dodger. I'd be happy if he could just be the next Bernardino.

I know that. Point is you can’t tell squat about a guy over his first few weeks in the majors.

Jacques is likely going to be a backend of the pen guy at best. He’s done the job most of the time this year but when he gives up runs, he gives them up in bunches.

This game is on the offense and the A’s pitchers have had a bit to do with that. It happens.

He certainly was that. Also the main reason I became SOX fan and not a Yamkem fan. Living here in central NY, this is mainly Yankem country.

Medina's stuff doesn't correlate with his bad stats at this point. He has the potential and arm to be a good one.

Shut out by A's. Stuff happens

Yep.

I’ve said it many times. Any pitcher in the major leagues can shut down any team. It’s how often they can do that that separates them.

And as Splinter said above, Medina’s stuff is better than his stats.

The good ol' days. One had to be damn good to play MLB, unlike today.

Actually, they weren't the good ol' days until the Dodgers signed Jackie Robinson. 12 years later the SOX introduced Pumpsie Green.

Opening day rosters for 2023 show only 6.2% are Black. Last season it was 7.2%. The 6.2% is the lowest since 1955.
