J. Gray 3.21ERA vs Bello 3.08ERA

A good match-up of two very good RH's. Should be a low scoring game, at least while both starters are still in the game.

Btw, this Rangers' line-up will be the toughest Bello has faced so far this season.

Go SOX!

Plus the right guy starting the game thread.

I'm nervous because of how the Rangers pitching handled our lineup yesterday. And, as good as Bello is (and certainly better than the Sox who pitched yesterday), the Rangers have the best hitting in MLB--just as you implied.

Max, at least the SOX will have their LH line-up, which improves their offense immensely. The only RH batters in the line-up should be Turner, Arroyo and Wong.

To me, this is a huge game for our chances at making the playoffs (and not becoming sellers.)

Moon, don't let Bello be aware of this. He'll have pressure enough facing this Texas line-up. I agree this is a big game, but at this point the rest of the schedule are all big games.

Even the A's with the SOX shattered pitching staff won't be as easy as they normally would be.

Agreed. It is an acid test of Bello's development and maturing as a frontline pitcher early in his career. The Sox need today's win plus a sweep of the A's ( not so easy given the pitching deficits ) to make any progress in the standings.

He knows it's a big game. If he is ever going to become a great pitcher, he'll have to be able to "rise to the occasion."

4-1 over the next 5 is almost essential. 3-2 puts a lot of pressure on those 14-15 games after the break and before the deadline, which includes 2 road trips out west.

6 v CWS & OAK

6 v SFG & SEA (deadline is during SEA series)

I will be at the game tonight (as well as Friday). You would be hard pressed to find a more perfect night for baseball than tonight. Almost makes me not care about the outcome of the game

By which I suppose you mean Yoshida in LF, Duran in CF, Dugo in RF, Casas at 1b, Hamilton at SS, and Devers at 3b. If memory serves, Arroyo, Hamilton and Wong at the bottom of the order have not been productive lately.

That Chicago series is against the Cubs, not the White Sox. Not like it makes a world of difference

Wong nearly homered to CF the other day, but yes, those 3 have been cold.

Last 14 days- only 4 guys over.700.

1.065 Devers

1.000 Duran

.808 Turner

.772 Yoshida

(.697 Casas- all others below .635!)

Last 7 days, all but 5 are over .500!

Duran, Devers, Yoshida, Turner and Ref.

Time to bust out with the bats!!!

Thanks for the correction.

Line Up

1. Duran LF

2. Yoshida DH

3. Turner 1B

4. Devers 3B

5. Verdugo RF

6. Duvall CF

7. Arroyo 2B

8. DHam SS

9. Wong CF

Why not Duran in CF and Duvall in LF?

I'm not bashing Cora, but it seems strange. (Also, giving Casas a day off ve a RHP, hmmm....)

Unless Casas is injured or sick it makes no sense at all. As for the Duvall/Duran headscratcher, maybe Cora gets the two confused. Both names do start with 'Du.'

We are in last place with a record hovering around.500. The four teams ahead of us are better teams.

We aren’t making the playoffs.

Bello is definitely a silver lining this year. There aren’t many but going forward he can anchor this pitching staff-if he can stay healthy.

Poor fundamental baseball. Yoshida has to get Duran to third there

Even better fundamental baseball.. just get him to home plate. Thanks JT

Turner still the professional hitter doing what is needed. Yoshi didn't help with Duran on second, no outs

Hamilton just continues the misery at SS . Makes Bello add pitches and risk the lead. Bello had to throw a 5 out inning.

When Yu Chang is your answer at SS, YU still have issues. Hamilton has 4th worst OPS in baseball among SS's? Who the heck could be worse ? I know i could look it up.

When is Story coming back? August?

You keep seeing references to him coming back a bit sooner as a DH . So you would bench Turner or Casas , so Story could bat ? Bring him in when he is fully ready and can play SS . 2B is an option but not where the need is.
