Duran looked great in that at bat! Why doesn't Cora start instead of that old guy Duvall, the one who can't nearly as well as Duran?

Sure- he's been a real gem.

Granted that Rafael Devers is the ONE RS franchise player right now, and will be paid accordingly. However, he is not such a stickman that other teams fear pitching to him in tight spots. He will be prime tradable material in about 5 years into his deal , when his weight hits about 255 . For now he is our odd chance at a big hit but Raffy does not yet rank with some of the classic monster hitters that played for Boston. And his defense is ok , but on the edge of marginal.

I believe I'd agree with all that.

Devers starts hitting and Masa stops hitting. The team's starting pitching improves and the offense disappears.

That's kinda' been it all year right- just can't get everything to fire at once.

The offense has pretty much disappeared for a few weeks now.

I truly thought this was a .500+- team from off season hot stove right until today and they keep proving it. The roster construction was a lot of wishin' and hopin'. Bloom is terribly unlucky as well as being far too reliant on previously injured guys and marginal older players getting all hot and bothered at the same time. The Yalie has got some problems, most of which were predictable back in mid February.

Yep. Kind of double jeopardy for the Sox hitting because on top of their recent slump the Yankees have a good pitching staff, 5th best in MLB.

Winning team scored just 3 runs in both games. Bello tomorrow.

It's interesting (to me) that before this series Cora always loaded his lineups with lefty bats when they faced a righty starter--usually 6 guys and sometimes 7. But in these two games against two righty Yankees starters Cora started 4 lefty bats in game 1 and 5 lefty bats tonight.

Duvall is back, and Valdez is gone.

A sweep of this Yankee series, on the road, would have sent a strong message that the Sox were ready to compete . It may have been an unlikely goal but now they need to scramble for the series win. This win 1, lose 1, wash and repeat is not good.

I believe they already had the team meeting to self criticize and remotivate. The next one will be JH and TL discussing Bloom's future plans for himself and Cora. But maybe only after a reset at the trade deadline, when an all new lineup of players and pitchers reignite faith in the 5 year plan, if it exists

thanks bro. Wyoming is an awesome place. can't wait to get back.

I travelled down to the White River in Arkansas a few years ago for some hunting- loved it down there.

What a pathetic game. Typical of this team. Can they win the series tomorrow? Idk

this is a AAA team with no guaranty they could win one of those divisions, a horrible management situation top to bottom and if the owner doesn't do anything then the hell with him too, it's not just spending money it's bang for your buck and an eye for talent, I'm not getting aggravated anymore. The Rays are a perfect example what can be done without a monster payroll and the right management, I hope the Fenway fans boycott and stay away. Last place 14 games out tremendous 2 year planning

Seems like a good one to have mostly missed (busy cooking for a dozen people so had it on in the background). Get em today Sox. Win the series.

We keep losing too many games we had a good shot at winnings.

The season started out pretty well, and then poof.

Now, each series seems to follow the seasonal model: win the first game, then poof.

Win today, and start a new and better trend.
