The most expensive team in baseball history, by far, is 10 games under .500.

Amazin'!

The thing that surprises me the most is how the Padres are struggling. There is far too much talent on that team for them to be playing this poorly.

BAL has lost 6 of 7.

Maybe they soon become the easiest target to pass.

Of course, we’d have to win to do that.

Corbin Carroll appeared to have seriously injured his shoulder on a swing tonight. Very unfortunate. The diamondbacks are a surprise team and have been led by him.

Rotoworld does seem to indicate it isn’t serious…

Unsustainable! (Well, usually, anyway...)

A bit skewed because of several blowouts they lost. But that's not their talent level anyways.

So, Wade Boggs hates today's game and how announcers speak of exit velocities and trajectories.

I pine for the days of when announcers spoke of Margo and ex Red Sox players playing for the Yanks.

Wade has always been somewhat of a schmuck.

I'd buy Curtis Leskanic a beer before I'd buy one for Wade.

Anybody ever player immaculate grid? Me and my friend play it and it’s really fun as a baseball fan

I've been doing it everyday for several weeks

But I think you’re forgetting the most important thing about Wade Boggs - his role in the sci fi classic “Swamp Shark”!! Watch it on YouTube and you can learn that third base want the only thing Boggs lacked range at!!

It’s pretty fun sitting in a room with your friends trying to guess them. For the Yankees/Rockies player I kept insisting Tulo played for Yankees and no one would believe me/remembered it lol

My friend and I do it first thing every morning and send screenshots to each other mostly just to help the other one down the road. He's a much better baseball historian than I am so he usually beats me if I don't get all 9

I'm 24 and I don't really have any friends either, but I'm on the autism spectrum so it's ok.

Covid really made my generation much more anti-social though. It was already hard enough to meet new people after college anyway

Covid definitely sucked for a lot of people. I work with a lot of teenagers and college kids and 2020/2021 school years really messed with their lives. It ruined prom, it ruined spring sports, it ruined graduation. It kinda of made everyone anti social and depressed and I’m not sure some of them have fully recovered.

I was fortunate to not be impacted much other than getting off 3 months from work.

But in terms of the friends thing - outside of work, I almost never make new friends, it’s really hard in your 20s, I’ve basically just kept a group chat going with some of my HS/college friends for about 10 years and we try to multiple times a month just hop on a FaceTime, or in an Xbox party and shoot the s***, talk Sports, play MLB the show and do whatever else. That definitely helped me during covid.

Watching the Oakland A's is watching the deception of the modern day Flim Flam Man , Billy Beane , in live action. He has amassed a tidy sum of money and even part ownership of the team with his clever Money Ball scam. Parlayed book and movie deals into a small fortune while winning zero titles. Now, it is time to skip town and head to the Strip in Vegas.

It's not a scam. He wasn't paid to win rings and doesn't tell the fans he will.

BTW, in Beane's tenure as GM of the A's, how many GMs have won a ring? Are they all scams?

How many of those scam GMs, of which I assume you'd say Bloom is included- a guy who actually did lead on his fanbase, have seen their team finish first once in the last 4 years and 3 of the last 12? The A's did finish 1st or second 7 of the last

14 seasons.

That being said, the A's are headed to their 6th last place finish in the last 10 years. Sound familiar?

Beane has been in charge for almost thirty years. He has yet to win a pennant. Any time they have had a decent team, he has gotten rid of the best players. He has become famous. I think it is fair to criticize him. Now he has weaseled his way into part owner of the franchise. Packing up and heading to Vegas. Flim Flam Man.

It's fair to criticize, but he does not set the budget.

He was given part ownership because he got more out of a low budget team than almost anyone and built the fan base up to 2,227 fans.

BAL is tied with TBR in the loss column, but have 4 less wins. (2 GB)

MIN is now 0.5 behind the 45-44 Guardians.

HOU is now 2 GB TEX.

ATL is 9.5 up on MIA

CIN up 2 on MIL

AZ up 1 on LAD and 3.5 on SFG

Some NL surprises:

NYM 42-46 (18 GB)

SDP 41-47 (10 GB)

STL 37-52 (12.5 GB)

PHI 48-40 is not bad but 12 GB ATL and 2.5 GB MIA for 2nd place.

Posted

Who would have thought BAL and AZ would be top 4 MLB teams.

MIA and CIN top 8 teams.

The Sox have the 15th best record. 14 better/15 worse.

We are -1 from #14 MIL

-1.5 from #13 SFG

-2.0 from #10 TOR, NYY & PHI

-3.0 from #8 HOU & CIN

-4.0 from #7 LAD

-4.5 from #6 MIA

-5.0 from #4 AZ & TEX

That being said, we are 5 games ahead of the 9th worst teams in MLB (SDP & CHC at 41-47.)

I’d be down. Me and my friends play the s*** out of Co Op in diamond dynasty when we have time. I need to fix my team though because of this season thing where I apparently lose Pedro Martinez, Chipper Jones, Trea Turner, Mike Trout and Munetaka Murakami.

I’ll pm you my gamer tag.
