Just learned from the O's feed that a position player can only be brought in to pitch if the opposing team has at least a 7 run lead.

"MLB teams must designate every player on the active roster either as a pitcher or a position player ... Those designated as position players are unable to pitch unless it is extra innings or their team is ahead or trailing by more than six runs when they take the mound."

 

I found it on the internet so it must be true. Another example of a stupid unnecessary rule.

For those interested in run differential only one team in MLB with a losing record has a plus run differential. The Giants(66-73) have a +4.

Also, only one team in MLB with a winning record has a minus run differential. The White Sox(72-68) have a -4.

I just finished the game on delay. That was a long one.

 

It was so nice to see Devers come back to life.

 

Almost everyone joined in.

 

Winning is always more fun.
