EO vs D. Lynch

Because of the plethora of mediocre teams in the AL, the SOX are still a PO contender. Beating really bad teams like the Royals is of the utmost importance. SOX, obviously, need to win today and tomorrow.

I know it's a sss, but I'm hoping Hosmer is the spark the SOX really need.

Lead us on EO to the promised land of +.500 record and WC #3. Amazing how the Orioles have kept their recent run intact and won't back down.

We get 4 shots at them through the 21st, so we better show a 3-1 record for that stretch, if we are going to blow right past them.

Meanwhile, go 3-1 on the Royals to begin the upward trend. Hosmer has singlehandedly cured a couple problems--- forced the ditching of Cordero and told Dalbec to grab some pine.

I do want to personally welcome back Matt Barnes and fully hope for him and the team to show great results over the last 50+ games.

On a roll now, but here's a tidbit worth contemplating:

The Sox are 54-54 with 54 games to go. IF THEY WON EVERY ONE OF THE 54 , THEY WOULD MATCH THE 2018 WIN TOTAL OF 108 ! Think about it.

It’s possible?

All things are possible, 700. Some are less likely , however. Just to get to 2021's 92 wins would take a 38-16 run , which coincidentally would be just over a .700 pace (.703). Your timing is superb.

Whose bright idea was it to model the Red Sox after a loser like the Rays. They should really be proud of this mess, and i don’t want to hear about injuries they were a bad team before, they have players starting on this team they could DFA and nobody would pick them up. If this year is what we have to look forward too I’d just like to say to Xander and Rafael run like hell

They'll definitely 'run like hell' to the highest bidder. If the SOX are the highest bidder, they'll stay. It's not that complicated.

Trout didn't 'run like hell' from the Angels, an organization much, much worse than the SOX. Trout stayed because the Angels made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

The movie Jerry Maguire said it best; "Show me the money!"

If the SOX had matched the Dodgers' offer to Betts, who here thinks he would have stayed in Boston? It's my opinion he would have still gone to the Dodgers. For whatever reason, I believe Betts just wanted out. Maybe it was the weather or maybe it was political or maybe more opportunities for additional income. Or all of the above. That is a very good point. However, its not like the Sox went out of their way to make Mookie feel like he should want to stay here.

If I were Mookie, I would have been pretty non-plusssed at the JD as Zen Master of hitting ********. That was a straight up effort to push JD for team leadership in the eyes of the fans endeavored by Sox PR and thus THE SOX and it was flat ridiculous. When Ortiz left it should have been Mookie's team.....Period...end of story.

So I think that if the Sox offered Mookie what the Dodgers offered him, there is every chance he would not have taken it. But the Sox have nobody to blame but themselves for that even more than what some might view as a generally caustic environment for Black American players here.

Speaking of money, how much cash would it take for any of you SOX fans to sell your allegiance to another team? To be more specific how much green would have to be offered for you to become a Yankem fan? We all have our price, so be honest.

To be even more specific it would have to be for 5 years.

This is kind of similar to what ballplayers do.

Under Yawkey it was beyond 'caustic.' Having never lived in Boston or surrounding area I thought that sad situation had improved drastically. I guess some stains are harder to remove than others.

Well this is just an off the top of my head response but they would have to give me mid-6 figures at least hard cash no structured payments AND then assign somebody to watch me because I am going to take the money intending to CHEAT!

It had improved some but grudgingly and in truth our path to racial equity and justice has been blunted at least temporarily and not just in Boston.

Now that said even I think King James of basketball fame and his comments about Boston are just a bit too terse and without the required nuance. So much so that he is IMO wrong, just not by as much as I wish he was wrong.

There are still places in Boston where Black Men and even Black Women are terribly unwelcome for no other reason than the color of their skin. I am white myself and embarrassed by it.

Yeah, this 'contract' would definitely have to be based on the honor system; it would be very difficult to enforce. I appreciate your honesty. Maybe some nerds can assign SOX fans some kind of WAR numbers so that our allegiance value can be translated into money.

Part of the contract would require you to wear a Yankem cap to all gatherings. Weddings, funerals, ball games, etc.

Geez, the Royals cannot field the baseball. Could have made a better effort on the ball JD hit to RF and that stone handed boot at SS was painful to watch.

Royals demonstrating the 'secret' of how to be 23 games under .500.
