The last thing MLB needs is expansion. There's already too many teams and not enough talent to go around. Just look at this Oakland team, for example.

Why in hell would a city want to bulld a new stadium for a team where the owner refuses to spend money on talent?

 

It may be a chicken/egg situation, where a bad team won't get a new stadium in or near Oakland and that will justify the move to a new city, possibly Las Vegas. The Chargers-San Diego pissing match provides guidance.

Regards to the new guy in CF and leadoff batter ( Rob R.), who was that other guy that previously stood in the batters box first? Hard to recall, although I doubt Refsnyder will make a full season of it. He has improved the 1st batter up though

I started this season with the firm conviction that no one among Devers, Bogaerts, and JDM would be worth their asking price.

 

Watching this team this season--and especially including the new guy Story at $22 freaking million per year--I now think this team will sink into mediocrity without signing at least one and preferably all three of Devers, Bogaerts, and JDM.

 

I say that because the rotation now has Eovaldi and Whitlock joining Sale and that elbow guy on the IL, and the bullpen, while it has had some good games recently, does not inspire confidence.

Not exactly a great distinction. Eovaldi's been up and down is now on the IL, as is Whitlock. That leaves WachaHill, which sounds kind of passive to me.

Would you take Laureano for Verdugo heads up right now ? Not necessarily, but maybe since he is a RH hitter, not showing enough power though
