Wacha is paying for that complete game tonight.

He threw 105 pitches in the complete game, which is hardly onerous. He threw 92 pitches vs. the Jays on 27 April and in his next game vs. the Angels he went 5.2 shutout innings.

Not Wacha's night. I guess he was due for a bad night, but maybe we can find a way to salvage this game.

Given they don’t know what they are doing pitching wise tomorrow, he may have to take one for the team tonight.

Even the most talented pitchers have a few off nights during the season. Ask Garrett Cole.

Yep. What was it Mussina said? You get around 32 starts a season. You’ll have everything working in 8 of them, something working in 16 of them and nothing working in 8 of them (or words to that effect).

Vaz got his 24th tonight, unless both ESPN and Baseball Reference are wrong.

If they say 24, then I'll stand corrected. Either way, JD having the same amount as Kike and VAZ isn't what the SOX are paying him for.

That is a very true statement. And it’s not like Devers or Bogie (the guys he’s hit behind most of the season) are over the moon with RBIs.

the error by Cordero changed the whole thing.

Wacha has been hammered most of the night; that error may have opened the door, but it’s not like the inning should have been over.

One could say Crawford’s error changed the top of the first.

Devers has an excuse; he follows the lead-of batter and the bottom of the line-up.

Oh, I know. My point was more that it’s not like the guys in front of him are driving in so many men that there’s none for JD. He’s left an awful lot of guys on, especially considering Devers has spent the season on second base.

That is very true.
