RHP Jake Odorizzi (3-2, 3.38) vs RHP Garrett Whitlock (1-1, 2.19)

At the game mojo and GT mojo in full effect. Finally get to go to Fenway this year. Things kept coming up and the weather sucked. But not tonight.

The sox are running into a red hot astros team. From mlb.com -

The Astros (23-12) finally saw their 11-game winning streak snapped on Saturday in a 13-6 loss to the Nationals, but Houston responded with an 8-0 victory on Sunday. Not only are the Astros 12-1 since starting the season 11-11, but they have not allowed more than three runs in any of those 12 victories -- and half of them have been shutouts. Houston's starting rotation has a 3.05 ERA (fifth in MLB), while the bullpen's 2.69 ERA ranks second among all clubs.

Sweeping the Twins was impressive but the other victims in that win streak were the Tigers and Nationals. Meh

It's not like the sox are currently a juggernaut. Right now they have more in common with the tigers and the nats than they do the twinkies.

The abyss of playing at home confronts the Sox. They are a better road team this year (9-12) vs Fenway (4-9) . It may turn around tonight, but it's no longer "early". 21% of the season is burned up.

Every man in tonight's lineup has over 110PA's , except Vazquez (79) and Cordero (36) , so the short ST size alibi has faded. 5 of the batters are OPS'ing in the .520-.585 range.

Despite your pessimism, it is a perfect night for baseball. Low 80s, moderately humid, and the pop up storms currently in the Worcester area should stay away. A week ago it was 45. I will be enjoying my evening at Fenway regardless

The way the sox are playing that may require copious amounts of alcohol! :D

SOX one run leads have the life span of a mayfly.

Mayflies at least live through the day.

I seem to recall the rule on rain-outs. If the game is unplayable, since the RS have not had a chance to hit, Houston doesn't get their run in the 6th and the game is 'called' for 5 innings. RED SOX WIN!

(or would they now consider it tied and reschedule last part of game?)

Would be a suspended game continued tomorrow afternoon tied 2-2 in the bottom of the 6th
