$340 million for a kid who gets in motorbike accidents and uses PED's, accidentally or not.

I hope they can’t sign Soto and he hits the market in 2 years…

Oh baby, I'm smellin' it. In the offseason, the Red Sox will ship Duran to the Padres for Tatis and 300 million. The Red Sox will have their SS replacement and will reunite Tatis and Hosmer.

Yeah, you have to wonder about Tatis now. They use to say that A-Rod was the greatest high school prospect in the history of baseball. But some have speculated that A-Rod starting taking PEDs in high school and so maybe A-Rod wasn't the greatest high school prospect in the history of baseball and that the PEDs just made him look like he was.

Cano completely fell off the cliff without the PEDs. He was getting older too, but still, his numbers completely fell off the cliff and we know that Cano was not taking PEDs this year since this was the last year of his big contract and he wasn't going to risk losing out on the money.

Why are the Mariners working on a mega contract for Rodriguez based on less than one full season?

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/34464088/seattle-mariners-finalizing-long-term-extension-breakout-rookie-julio-rodriguez-sources-say

They have a lot of faith in him. And if it pans out, his AAV could easily wind up being an absurdly low $17.5mill, which means the Mariners could have a 5-tool All Star CF locked up for what 29 other teams pay for a free agent closer…

Good to see the Yanks get one hit by the lowly A's. Man, their O is really coming up short.

The Yanks started out looking like the 2018 Sox, but despite the recent winning streak, they have been playing like the 2022 Sox since July 31st. Hell, the way they are playing, maybe the Cards or Phillies will pass them for the 5th best record in MLB.

July 31>>>

12-13 BOS

9-16 NYY

It's also lower than the Qualifying Offer a certain poster has suggested extending to numerous Red Sox players after this year. ;)

Interesting series gets underway tonight at Citi Field. The Dodgers visit the Mets for three. The Dodgers are clearly the best team in baseball. But if I had to bet the farm on who survives the crapshoot post season and wins the World Series this year , I would pick the Mets.

How is Trout and Ohtani not on this list?

I did not set the min PAs to 450+, so it left Trout out, and I only listed pairs on offense and pairs who are pitchers, but still, the top fWAR Angels

Batting:

16. Trout 5.8

39. Ward 3.9

40. Ohtani 3.9

Pitching

6. Ohtani 5.4

27. P Sandoval 3.5

If I combined the two lists and added Ohtani's Offense + Pitching, then they'd be on my list.

Pujols with another Dinger. He's now hit more HR this year than he has since 2016. That's kinda fishy

Think he may have found a Pharmaceutical Fountain of Youth?

Turns out, his lying about his age was about him being younger than he said, initially.

He's hit 24 this year.

He hit 23 in 2019 and 2017. It's not THAT fishy.

His barrel rate is way up, which is the biggest reason his hard hit % is better. There's no drug available that allows you to barrel a ball better. Barry had drugs to make him stronger, but his now banned elbow pad was what really helped his swing get through the zone consistently.

Any playoff predictions? I would say that the Dodgers are clearly the favorites. But I like the Mets chances. They have a lineup that can score enough to win. They have DeGrom and Scherzer with Diaz to close. Showalter is one of the best managers in the game and he is way overdue to win one. They have to get by a dangerous Padres team in the crap shoot , but I think it could be their year.
