The Red Sox are the only team in MLB where the ghost runner on second isn’t in scoring position..

Evol deserved better fate, but Cora deserved this loss, and I blame him, and I’ll keep saying it all year long when the Red Sox blow the lead, and lose the game by someone in the closer situation not named Whitlock. Whitlock should be the CLOSER.

Sox pitching has given up 4 ER in the last 37 innings and the team went only 2-2 in that stretch…

If he was a true closer, would he have pitched the 8th?

I kept saying this all pre season but they want to make him a starter

Having trouble beating the Orioles is troubling.

Not if the O's are the better team. EO deserved better; in fact, most teams getting the pitching the SOX have been getting would be over .500.

Whitlock would have come in when Barnes got 2 outs in the 8th with a base runner on base. It’s not that complicated, but only to Cora.

Beer league pitching takes a whole new meaning doesn’t it friends

Shaw was a start in the right direction now continue the purge starting again tonight by designating this out of shape pitcher

And I keep asking the same question.Would the Red Sox have a better record right now if Whitlock was the closer? I say yes.

100 percent. At least a 2-3 game swing. They have lost a lot games in the later innings without him available

The elephant in the room is the putrid offense, but I agree Whitlock should be the closer.

Yes the guys swinging the bats are the biggest problem, but to try to go through a season with a closer by committee is just asking for trouble, and makes very little sense when you have someone like Whitlock to fill that role.

The offense is the problem. Whitlock will continue to pitch key innings all year.

But this is a team that has scored 0 runs in 26 of their last 28 innings and has two home runs in their last 120 innings. A new closer won’t solve that…

The Toronto Blue Jays have won 8 one run games so far this year. How do you thing they are doing that? It's certainly not their offense as it's no where near close to last year. They have a solid closer and they close out close games. Something the Sox haven't done a lot

I already mentioned that the guys swinging the bats are the biggest problem, and Whitlock can’t fix that, but Whitlock closing will fix the problem of the games the Red Sox have lost already this year, because of not having any kind of closer.

Come on man! Try to keep up, because that had already been explained.

Exactly, and it’s not that hard to see, but for some reason Cora can’t, or won’t figure it out.

If the Sox use Whitlock as a traditional 9th inning closer, which they should if Cora wants him available everyday, that would only affect one game so far this season - Springer’s home run.

This loss was on the offense. The pitching isn’t the problem. The Sox pitching has allowed 4 ER in the last 4 games, and you’re saying “that’s too many!!”??? A team gives up 4 runs in 4 games and only wins twice, and re-arranging pitching roles is the solution?!?!

Offense. Get it help…
