This game is far from a must win for the second best record in MLB (tied with a few others) but to me , it has that feel. One to keep pace with the Rays or gain one if the Guardians of culture are suck cessful, and to semi-bury the Yankees especially at Fenway, where the Sox are marginally less winners than on the road (30-20 vs 30-19).. They need to redeem that game yesterday .

 

All the fingers point at Ottovino failing to get the third out timely, but I recall two base runners in the 8th for JDM, and 2 in the 9th for Kike, with no results.

A sportswriter in Cleveland believes they chose the name Guar(dians) because of its similarity to In(dians).

A grounder like that up the middle used to be a base hit. Shifts are killing baseball. I hope they pass a rule that you have to have 2 infielders on each side of 2nd Base.
