Our pitching is about #10 out of 30 in MLB. That's about as good as you can expect with our staff.

One of those games where people who say "I watched every pitch last year" make me raise my eyebrows a little.

 

I literally watched every pitch of every game for several years in a row, as I taped them all.

 

I've missed a few in the last few years, and I think I had seen every one, until last night. (I dont feel like going back and watching, either.

I used to go through great pains to not watch any sports shows or see the score, until I had watched the game.

 

My old routine was to start watching the games about an hour after it started on tape delay, fast forward the commercials and pitching changes or game delays and catch up live around the 8th or 9th inning.

 

It was very difficult to watch the rest of a game, if I knew the final score, but I still did for many years, but that rarely happened.

It's nearly impossible these days to make plans to record a game and watch it later, especially for somebody my age with an active social media presence. The primary sources that would spoil the scores for me are ESPN push notifications on my phone for every scoring play, game start/final, and a score update at the end of every 3 innings. It would also be hard for me to stay off of social media for a day. Scrolling through that Instagram timeline is hard to resist. Nowadays, if I miss a game, so be it. I'll just watch the highlights later that day or the next morning, assuming those highlights are worth watching. I also don't stay up past 10 or 11. Many nights I fall asleep listening to the radio.
