Good pitching shuts down the good hitting. When the sox dont get offense from their big 4 of Verdugo, JD, Xander, and Devers, they don't win. 2 for 13 and a solo shot aint gonna cut it. Bassitt was really good. Eovaldi was really good, but the pen failed him

Ball game.

Chavis, batting 9th, had two hits, and the rest of the order had two hits.

A's know how to win the close ones, and the Sox are vulnerable right now because of the bullpen, which gave up 2 of the 3 A's runs.

The main difference between a very good hitter and an average hitter is that the very good hitter hits more pitcher's mistakes.

Good way to put it.

It seems the dead ball is separating the great from the good. The greats are still killing it. The good hitters have fallen off the map

Good news today: eavoldi threw a very nice game!

Bad news today; bullpen lost another game!

A's might have been a factor too.

Dead ball or high seam ball? Pitches seem to be breaking more this year.

One thing about baseball compared to other team sports; one doesn't have to wait too long to get revenge.

That is one thing I love about baseball.

There was an analysis that Castigs was talking about on Monday’s telecast that showed the lighter ball increases spin rate. High spin rate fastballs appear to rise (they actually just don’t fall as fast). Higher spin rate breaking balls move more. Even if it’s just an inch, it’s massively impactful. At these high velocities, you’re not tracking ball to bat just with your vision. These guys are swinging off muscle memory and their eyes track where to swing. The problem is, their eyes and their muscle memory is telling them to swing slightly lower than where the ball is actually going. It should take time, but eventually the hitters should adjust

No complaints from me about this game last night. A's are a phenomenal pitching and defensive team. We can't expect to go off on them offensively every game this series. Tonight, though, is a must-win. This kid on the hill is making his first career start, while Manaea goes tomorrow. Coming into this series, I would have loved to take 2 out of 3. That would still be nice, but as long as we play clean games, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to me if we drop 2 out of 3

Franchy Cordero performs a valuable public service. He is so bad, both now and in the past, that every other player on the Sox roster--and maybe even the entire Sox system--can point to him and say, "yeah, but at least I'm better than that guy." Mendoza, wherever he is, must have a smile on his face.

Plus now he has his own thread.

Start the game threat today. We need some Thunder magic.

Time for them to be set straight.

And they win another 1 run game. They are 9-3 in one run games. Very lucky.

Me too.

I hate losing. I want to erase the sour taste as soon as possible.
