Another save for Barnes. Like clockwork. Nice 6 innings by Pivetta, a quality start by any measure.

4 straight for the Sox and moonslav59.

Camden Yards again tomorrow night

Vino is an opponent rally waiting to happen. Valdez probably is a better bet than Taylor.

I am absolutely convinced that the 14 pitchers experiment is a fail. Too much chaff and not enough wheat. I would always carry another everyday player on the 2021 Sox.

Yeah, you are right. Ottavino is rally pitcher.

Hopefully Houk and someone else down in he minors help us comin from the pen.

Btw, Barnes is the real deal. Whata performance!

This win guarantees that we will at least be tied with the A's when they come to town this week for a matchup of the top 2 teams in the league. We are 22-13, they are currently 21-14. They are just getting underway against Tampa, and are off tomorrow

I hope I can match your streak!

The WEEI radio announcers are a tad flaky. I think it was in the 4th when they said Pivetta was pitching very efficiently, but then they noticed he had already thrown 64 pitches, so backed off.

Neither said that both things were true. Pivetta needed 30+ pitches to get thru the first inning, but then got very efficient, which is why he could go 6 (and 103 pitches).

As do we all, but right now I'm relishing the four while rooting for the Nationals, Astros, and A's.

Joe wasn't there today. I chalk it up to the inexperience of the other two.

Just to avoid what some of us consider a quality start and what is defined in the ML as quality start.

ML definition of QS=Starting pitcher must complete at least 6 innings and not give up more than 3 earned runs. If a pitcher did pitch 6 innings and give up 3 earned runs every start for the entire season, he would have a ton of QS, but would end the season with a 4.50ERA.

Personally, I would change it from 3 earned runs to 2.

Good news today: pivetta throws a nice game, not sure how many people thought he would start the year 5 and 0 with a 3.19 era, but it can’t because many.

Bad news today: after tomorrow, this year thus far we will have played 10 games against Baltimore and none against the Yankees?

Wish we could have played the Yanks when they were struggling. They still are struggling to score runs, but the pitching is winning them games now

But, like a lot of things in recent history, the standards for quality have gone down.

Hey, you kids, get off of my lawn.

Yanks won 3-2 on 5 hits.

Pulled it out in the 9th.

:(

That's because they also walked 10 times

It's absurd that 6 IP and 3 ERs is a QS, but 8 or 9 IP and 4 ERs is not.

5.2 IP and 0 ER is not.

I understand a cut off has to be placed somewhere, and I'm okay with keeping the QS stat, as is, but we could create another stat and call it something else- like "Good Starts."

4+ IP 0 ERs

5+ IP 1 ER

6+ IP 2 ERs

7+ IP 3 ERs

8+ IP 4 ERs

Completely agree with this. I always thought quality start stat was a bit absurd, it is however definitely better than just using W/L record which was unfortunately how people judged pitchers for a while.

When does voit return to them!

I realize it's still early in the season, but Betts isn't exactly tearing it up for the Dodgers. Batting .215 with RISP.

Well worth the $35M he's getting this year. Smart investment by the Dodgers. Getting Mookie Betts pretty much guarantees them WS success for years to come.

To this point, Verdugo has a slightly higher WAR than Betts.
