Not weather related. PPD due to safety concerns in light of recent events, to put it diplomatically

Huh? I see rain in the forecast.

That’s not why it was postponed though. It was postponed due to safety concerns and a potential riot forming in the area.

Reminds me of this game from the pre-COVID era that was noted as being "surreal" for having an empty stadium.

Wonder how they will manage the rest of the series.

I believe I mentioned before, but I was at the Freddie Gray riot game! Definitely a pretty terrifying experience. Due to the nature of this young mans death and the pretty stupid comment made by the Minnesota police saying they meant to taser him and accidentally shot him plus the ongoing George Floyd trial, I would be surprised if they allowed any fans at the games in this series and they might even postpone it with all that’s happening in Minnesota.

Well that city has become a dump in short span. They will asked for money then to rebuild it.

Postponed because of the shooting? Keep politics out of the sports world!!!!!

I don’t think it’s really a political thing, it’s more of a public safety issue.

Radio crew said they were already talking about flying to Fenway and playing at least the next 3 scheduled games there with the Twins as the home team. Perhaps a DH to make up today

@alexspeier

St. Peter says it's too early to tell what will happen with the rest of the series.

No discussion yet of moving the Twins-Red Sox series out of Minneapolis, says Dave St. Peter.

Twins president of baseball ops Derek Falvey says he discussed decision to postpone with Alex Cora and Chaim Bloom. Falvey said the Red Sox aren't staying in downtown Minneapolis.

f*** Lou Merloni for spreading fake news

He's the worst. Once you get EEI brain, it's time to retire.

He was penciling in tomorrow's game as a 7:10 start at Fenway

So double header tomorrow?

I highly doubt we play at all in Minnesota this week. Of course, no fans could be an option. We're used to that now

Be interesting to see what they decide.

If there is any hint of further issues, they should fly to Boston, tonight, and flip the series we have in Boston Aug 24-25-26.

Red Sox were in Baltimore when they had riots a few years back if memory serves me. I think the Sox were on their way out of town and the next day was a new series and one of the games was played to an empty stadium. That would be normal now. I don’t see any reason to move the series to Boston. Play the games in an empty stadium. The Red Sox will not want to swap out an August series when they can potentially be allowed to pack Fenway full.

Makes sense! No Sox baseball for a few days then ?

Full capacity at Fenway by August may be a tad optimistic but otherwise I agree

The Red Sox and Twins are expected to play as scheduled on Tuesday, per Dan Hayes of The Athletic.

No official announcement has been made. Monday's scheduled game was postponed as a response to the shooting death of 20-year-old Daunte Wright by police this weekend. However, Tuesday's game will be played and Monday's game is expected to be made up as part of a doubleheader on Wednesday.

One would think it should be on Wednesday- not "get away day" on Thursday.

FYI. No new thread needed for today's game.

Considering the date would be 4/4 either way, I think you're right!

Weather today is expected to be nasty--cold and maybe wet--the exact opposite of the weather Ernie Banks had in mind when he said, "let's play two!"

As he played in Chicago, a city where the weather is determined by a random number generator, Banks was well aware that it could be 70 and sunny for the first game, and then 40 degrees and snowing by the time the second one rolled around. Yet he still wanted to play two... ;)
