As a fan, I wanted to watch Betts for his whole career. If I take that hat off, I can see why they made the move.

Basically echoes my sentiments on the matter

I don't disagree.

To me, this is the choice:

A. Betts at a huge contract

vs

B. The money from not paying Betts + Verdugo + Downs + Wong

It's easy to see why B is a good choice.

Personally, I wanted Betts here.

About your "personally, I wanted Betts here." That is the rub, isn't it? He's a bonafide five tool player who handled the nastiest right field in MLB like it was the new Yankee Stadium right field, and we could watch him almost every day (or night) 150 or more times a year. He won the AL MVP the year the Sox had probably their best season ever. He's like Yaz only probably better, but the big money sucked him up like a tornado and deposited him where the movie Wizard of Oz was made.

I wanted Betts. I think I suggested $400M/14.

I'm over it.

I like Verdugo and Downs and having $350+M to spend over the next 10 years.

Good win yesterday. 6 hours of job interviews today trying to decide if I want to (finally) move to the good 'ol US of A...had a couple chances during my working days and it just didn't come together so if I'm gonna do it now's the time. I retired very early so I still have some good years left, so time to decide to come out of retirement and move south or not...I am very much an "American" Canadian, I've spent a lot of time in the US and I love it. So, we may be neighbors!....(ok it's not a NE job, it's down south...) lol.

South? Oh good. Then you won't have to worry about all that burdensome crap they have in Canada: you know, wage protections, health care, benefits, functioning social services. And you'll be able to buy all the guns you want.

You think you’re crazy. Come to Canada

I ate chocolate pudding this morning outside in my underwear in -3 degree weather.

I was in my backyard alright!!

Oh man don’t get me started lol. Our health care system is gridlock. 2% vaccinated. Ranked 56th in the world and dropping. We have more restrictions coming on tonight where I am. And our two largest provinces by population have stay at home orders and curfews. 6 month wait lists for procedures and diagnostics (trust me I’ve been sick twice and gone through the system). Ya we are functioning really well. We have the same covid cases per capita as the US and 3 times the variants. And we’ve been hiding for a year. Record opioid overdoses. Estimates are up to 50% of Canadians verging on insolvency due to debt levels. Mental health and domestic abuse off the charts. Taxes well in excess of 50% of your salary. But hey I’m with you on guns. Never owned one.

Grass is always greener I guess. Lol. Maybe I’ll find out.

Edit - this reads harsher than I intended. What I was trying to say is sadly there is no panacea anywhere. North America is largely a regional dysfunctional mess so pick your poison! And may everyone be happy and healthy in whatever and whomever you choose!

Lol right!!!!! Speaking of which, it’s good night to bbq up some burgers. Plus temperatures. Hell the other day we were warmer than Boston. So strange.

I very well might be with you!.....(and I would never take offense at that. I have family in both countries. I love both countries. My wife is aboriginal so is technically a citizen of both countries. Maybe I am one of the few).
