Yes, just because Munoz might be a slightly better choice, the Sox may not want to DFA or trade someone, just to make room for Munoz to be called up.

I was a bit surprised Munoz cleared waivers.

Well, walking out on the Cardinals in a dispute over playing time probably did not help his brand...

I'm into it.

While I respect your impartiality and consistency, I'm talking about S-G replacing Arroyo as the starting 2Bman, if EHern is moved to CF.

Arroyo's numbers are very close to S-G's over the past 3-4 years.

BWAR has G-S at +0.9 from 2018-2020 and Arroyo at +0.2.

At worst, S-G takes over for Chavis as the 26th man, and we keep Arroyo and S-G on the 26 man roster, making it easier for EHern to play more in CF.

S-G might have also been used as a PR.

FWIW Dee Strange-Gordon once let loose a string of profanities in a physical clubhouse altercation with then-teammate Jean Segura:

The front office and teammates apparently sided with Strange-Gordon as Segura was traded before the end of the year.

I never heard about this.

It reminds me of when Manny yelled at Youk, and many fans took Youk's side, when later, several players said Youk needed a "talking to."

Seeing that we are now in the Kiké era, what does everyone think of it? I haven't seen much out of him defensively, but he seems to handle that bat pretty well and is a fun player to watch.

From everything I've read, he will bring a lot of energy to the team and will be a fan favorite. I am on board.

Interesting little article on Christian Arroyo:

https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2021/03/christian-arroyos-career-renaissance-a-major-story-in-boston-red-sox-spring-training-the-light-goes-on-at-different-points-for-different-guys-in-their-careers.html

In Bloom’s eyes, Arroyo’s impressive camp goes far beyond his .279/.326/.512 line and three homers. Bloom thinks Arroyo’s overall offensive game is stronger than it was at any point during the infielder’s time with the Rays.

“I’ve seen him swinging the bat with more authority,” Bloom said. “Just driving the ball to all parts of the field and driving pitches I did not see him drive when he wore a Rays uniform, with any regularity. A lot of different things are giving us reasons for optimism.”

Strange-Gordon was just released. Don't see the Sox bringing him in on a MiLB deal. If Arroyo had faltered in ST, maybe.

Our 2bmen have all looked good in ST.

Hernandez

Arroyo

Arauz

Chavis

Starting to look like your idea of putting Kike in CF makes more sense than anything.

Our 2B options are all as good or better than a player cut by a tanking team while on a minor league deal...
