Nope. Southerners are not Yankees, and (start Southern drawl) ya'll would get in a whole lotta trouble for saying so (end Southern drawl).

 

Years ago (like 40), I was told by somebody from Tennessee that there are only 5 true Southern states, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee. Louisiana and Texas are too far west, Virginia and Kentucky are too far north, Florida has all those damn Yankees and North Carolina has that word in it.
