Guardians need outfield bats .Verdugo is one hell of a player do you turn him for a Clevinger plus sweetener ? I don’t think I’d deal Verdugo but I’m not Chaim .Mookie Trade would then be Downs Wong Clevinger .Rotation of Sale Clevinger Erod Evoldi seems pretty outstanding .....second thought yeah I’m doing the trade if available . #1... There is no way they make this deal.

#2... No way I deal Verdugo! Right now, with Mookie gone, JBJ likely on his way out soon, and Beni completely s***ing the bed, we can't afford to deal him. We need OF'rs in the long run, and this kid... if he keeps his head on straight, & gets totally healthy, could be a steal.

#3... This season was over before it began. It's a total write off. TANK! Go big in the draft. Start rebuilding! Target 1 big pitcher for 2021. Spend big on that.

#4... Unless somebody with big hopes for this year comes knocking with LOT TO OFFER, we sit back & be miserable for the ride.

just my opinion

1. I doubt they deal Clevinger, but if there is one team that could move a pitcher like him and immediately backfill his spot in the rotation, it is Cleveland.

2. It is easier to get outfielders than aces. Springer, for example, is a free agent this off-season.

3. Why wait? Sox have rebuilt quickly before. Look at how they did after last place finishes in 2012 and 2015.

4. Isn’t that exactly what a Clevinger trade is?

What would the sweetener be? They’d probably want a pitching prospect in addition to Verdugo. Do we have any with trade value?

Actually per baseballtradevalues.com, Cleveland should be the one adding a sweetener. Probably since Clevinger only has two years of control left while Verdugo has 5...

Would you deal Verdugo for Clevinger and RHP Triston McKenzie or Verdugo for Clevinger and RHRP Emmanuel Clase?

To me, Verdugo is a keeper. The new Red Sox need some young star power going forward, especially in the outfield, to build around. I'd seriously rather trade JD, whose veteran sock in pennant races has to be attractive. Bloom's Rays had a habit of trading a lot of veterans after good seasons, but had a tendency to hang on to young (and cheap) talent.

Springer is good, but already 30... Juan Soto won't be a free agent for another half decade. I still have hopes Benintendi will be an .800 OPS guy again, and bet other teams would be willing to give up a #4 or #5 starter to find out. I'm not sure that will be worth it in the long run -- for a former MLB #1 prospect -- but Verdugo already has a quicker bat, quicker legs and a stronger arm.

A fair argument...

LOL :0

True dat? I don't know the guy, other than he is a big kid, strong, young, with 1 really good season last year. I'm assuming he has ace potential, but I don't know.

Is he an idiot?

We've done well with other idiots.

Julio Lugo and Julian Tavarez come to mind

Verdugo is the only OF that Cleveland would take for Clevinger, and I am not sure we want to go there. Grant it he can pitch, but he makes BIG waves in the clubhouse.
