The Commissioner is quoted as saying that the investigation was primarily focused on the Astros. In an article published yesterday in the Athletic Ken Rosenthal argued that the investigation should be expanded to include 2018 and 19. Today the Commissioner said that the investigation has expanded to 2018 and 2019. He also said that they will follow the evidence to wherever it leads. It doesn't sound that this investigation will be a quick one. I think it is also fair to believe that this investigation won't be confined to just the Astros.

 

I think this could easily become the biggest scandal in baseball in a generation. The repercussions could be severe. Not to be given to hyperbole or sensationalism but after hearing the commissioner speak I suspect he is going to come down on the guilty parties like a ton of bricks.

The baseball is another issue. However the ball is the same for everyone and is within the rules. Using electronic means to steal signs isn't within the rules and is considered cheating. I have heard or seen no one connected to MLB either players, coaches, GMs, ownership or sportswriters equate the two.

I sincerely hope there are no other teams involved. It's enough of a fiasco as it is.

Thankfully, our home win-loss record in '18 was nearly the same as our road record.

 

But generally speaking what's bad for baseball here is that the signs were so clearly given, and accepted by all the players and presumably coaches. This alone wd seem to indicate that it wasn't just a Houston practice, but more or less acceptable home team advantage practice. Boo.
