I have to question our offensive approach. We are getting up 2-0 and taking a total cockshot. On 2-0, we should be swinging at cockshots. Why take 2-0 then swing like a moron on 2-1

Frustrated. Fatigue sets in late in games as well when players get tired. With that said this game is intense. If this was Boston I would be sick lol. Which it was last year.

Verlander-Harris-Osuna is a tall order to handle, even for a top lineup

Agreed.

Chapman really working this inning wow. 24 pitches

Chap only comes back for a lead. That's it. No need burning him out if he doesn't have a lead to protect.

Agreed

Wow 0-4 tonight.

3 quick outs wow.

Game over. Tied series folks!!!

Thank you carlos correa. Game 3 will be pivotal. Astros offense still looks terrible. Need to do more.

Lol, they’re afraid.

Either way, we took Verlander’s best and matched him with our pen. We took 1 in Houston and nearly beat them in game 2. Now we go home. Cole is dominant. But so is this pen. We win tomorrow and this series is over IMO. We lose tomorrow and this thing is gonna go 7

One thing I will never understand is why Boone is such a soldier for analytics but doesn't use them in crunch time. The HR to Springer never should have happened. Green is absolutely dominating and he gets pulled for Ottavino to face Springer. Ottavino has been cold of late, but also, he's a slider guy who has a good 2 seamer to complement. Springer was 3rd in baseball in BA vs breaking balls. Why bring in your breaking ball pitcher to face one of the best breaking ball hitters in all of baseball? Sounds like a bad combo. Otherwise, I thought the game was well managed.

I would like to advocate for a change behind the dish. Sanchez is a great player and I know the Yanks have needed to hope he could break out, but man he is clueless right now. His approach absolutely sucks. Take cockshots, chase pitches off the dish. He's too hot and cold for us to be carrying him as a liability against this team. We need someone who is at least a consistently average player who can do the little things like move runners over, bunt, make contact when needed, etc. And he is an upgrade behind the dish.

Boone is the quintessential modern manager. He pulled Green there mainly because he wants to keep Green's pitch count reasonable - he's thinking about the rest of the series rather than focusing 100% on winning this particular game.

Green is a guy who has thrown 35-40 pitches in numerous games.

Always easy to second-guess from the armchair, of course.

It is easy to second guess. But it wasn't until they showed the graphic of Springer's dominance vs breaking balls this year that really got me scratching my head. I know Springer used to suck vs breaking balls, but he hit .323 vs them this year. I understand you may want to go to a new pitcher to keep Green fresh for games 3 and 4, but why go to your breaking ball pitcher vs a guy who crushes breaking balls?

Well said. I said from the beginning I think this series goes to 7. But yes If the yanks can beat Houston tomorrow I think this series is as good as finished. Last night was a damn entertaining game though. Low scoring but was a very good game regardless of who won.

Houston winning just made it that much better lol ;)

Whoa where'd all these commenters crawl out from!

Hey I’m rooting for your packers tonight. Don’t get greedy. Can’t root for two of your teams lol

So it’s looking more and more like a rainout on Wednesday. That is a 100% win for the Astros. The more I look at this, this would be the outcome

10-14 Severino vs Cole

10-15 rainout

10-16 Tanaka vs Greinke

10-17 Bullpen vs Bullpen

10-18 Paxton at Verlander

10-19 Severino at Cole

The reason why this is absolutely horrible for the Yanks is that a rainout in game 4 puts the Yanks on 4 straight games. If this thing goes 7, our pen will be horribly overworked and we’ll have Sevy on the mound. The lost off day also means zero chance of Tanaka coming back in game 7 as anything but an inning or two pitcher.
