Yes, they have, and there are ample examples of a team coming back from way down to pass someone, but does anyone know the record for coming X amount of games behind two teams to pass both teams?

That question will have to be directed at MOON. Er, what's that? Oh, sorry MOON.

Nerd alert

The nerd and Remy are in agreement that Cora blundered in his approach to the SPs in ST. Remy said they just didn't have a chance to get their mechanics down and that when he was a player he wanted to be ready when "the bell rang". He said that there is no on and off switch.

I agree with those two. Glad its out there now. All the fans know it. Its good that these guys are so publicly critical of Cora.

Is that pitch clock in effect when there's runners on base?

Yes. I wasn't watching that closely, but I believe w/ a runner on base, it's 20 seconds. I was surprised to see that with no one on, it's only 15 seconds. (The ball doesn't have to be thrown; the pitcher just has to be [i think] in his set.) And I thought I saw that between batters, it's 25. It's different after a foul too, of course. But the mere fact that it's there keeps the game moving.

After the 2018 season Cora was on an ego trip, believing he could do know wrong. At least this season has brought him back down to earth.

LOL

I don't have access to that sort of thing and wouldn't know where to look.

I'm pretty sure the SOX will pass Tampa, but, yes, passing a second team will not be easy, but not impossible. I was rooting for the Yankems to beat the A's earlier today.

Rooting for the Yankems is not easy for me to do and I sure don't want to make it a habit. Sometimes one has to things he/she doesn't like for the greater good.

The Rays are a very good team, even with some key guys hurt.

I just don't see them losing enough.

I hope I'm wrong.

This is what I love about Nate. There is no give in the guy. He is all challenge all the time. We hardly have any pitchers on this team that pitch like that.

He belongs in the rotation. Not real interested in the Bullpen s*** when it comes to Nate.

The real question is how long will he hold up. Tends to be as fragile as a carton of eggs. But I love the way he throws.

I agree. However, my concern with EO, besides the fragile arm, is pitch count. How many 5+ innings will the SOX get from this guy?

Every month the team has played better than .500 except for March/April. None of those months were they great. Never the less, if they had played to the same winning % in March/April that they had played in the May -August, they would be in a much better position for the Wild Card. Cora blew the season with his stupid approach to Spring Training.

Pitch count might end up being an issue for Nate of how many stints we can get out of him before he goes back up on the shelf. Nate tends to need to get rolling and there has rarely been a time in his career when he has been able to do that.

We will probably be lucky to get 15 starts out of him a season....20 at best and that is where the contract becomes an issue. Is Nate really a $1.2M per start pitcher? Doubt it.

He's out after 4 innings. Let's see what the pig pen can do.

Good point. I'm not defending Cora, but when a team's two best pitchers have had a recent history of breaking down during the season, that may have been a factor. However, there was no sane reason to baby Porcello or E-rod.
