Moreland and JBJ both hitting .222. Pathethic. JBJ 2 or his last 20, with one homer and one RBI. Career .236 average, .316 OBP. Time for him to go.

But they both have Gold Gloves. Just for shits and grins, monetarily, based on the value of precious metals, what is worth more? A Silver Bat or a Gold Glove?

WTF forgot that there's a pinch hitting option.

No he didn’t. If he pinch hits Travis for Moreland, KC brings on a right hander who was warm in the pen. Just depends on which matchup he preferred. No idea what the pitcher-hitter stats are.

Watching the movie, "Major League". Almost over. Nice to see a team that can beat the Yankees. Wild Thing, Rickie Vaughn on in relief.

'WILD THING.' Speaking of nicknames, most anyone on the SOX starting staff could wear that nickname.

I will take the Silver Bats. Stats don't lie. Gold Gloves are at the discretion of the voters.

True. But my mantra is LESS MORELAND.

Are you being sarcastic?

No I’m not saying he isn’t replaceable. Just wondering if someone we have currently would or we go after someone.

Nice to know, but I was referring to which award, based on weight, would bring in more money?

SOX won't get much for him in a trade, especially from the NL, who already have their pitchers batting 9th.

It’s too bad. He looked like he was going to be something big or at least I thought so. This year was brutal

I know you like him and obviously there's nothing wrong with that. He is a Gold Glove CF. But, imho, most of his career offensively with the SOX has been brutal.

Ya I won’t argue that.

We must lead the league.

Man, we suck badly!

Pretty sure our pitching could compete for last in stats by the time the season is over.

He was "brutal" in his first 2 seasons with the Sox (one with just 107 PAs and the other 423).

.196 4 40 in 530 PAs) .548 OPS

He was pretty darn good in his next two seasons:

.262 36 130 (891 PAs) .834 OPS

His next 3 seasons saw some God awful slumps, but he's been over .700 every yeart, and I don't consider that "brutal."

.235 42 164 (1487 PAs) .719 OPS

If you combine his last 5 years:

.245 78 294 (2378 PAs) .762 OPS

At 650 PAs, that's

.245 20 76 (.762)

JBJ has been frustrating as hell to watch. It seems like the whole world knows he can be a plus hitter, if he goes the other way, but he keeps falling into deep ruts of trying to pull every pitch for a HR.

He's been my favorite Sox player, but it hasn't been easy watching him hit.

Well said moon.

The good thing is that September is around the corner and this miserable season will end soon. I will watch my patriots and root for the Astros and hope the skankees flop in the postseason.

Agreed with everything except change Pats to Colts.

Thanks. My favorite players have often been far from the best.

I became a Sox fan after being a Brewer & Tommy Harper fan when I lived in Milwaukee as a child. When Harper was traded to the Sox at the same time I moved to Maine, I switched to being a Sox fan. Harper had 1 good year with the Sox and was treated poorly due to the color of his skin, but he remained my fave until his time with the Sox was over.

I also loved Luis Aparicio at that time.

My next favorite players were:

Bill Lee

Luis Tiant

Rick Burleson

Orlando Cepeda

Dwight Evans

Fergie Jenkins

Oil Can Boyd

Ellis Burks

Greg Harris

Carlos Quintana

John Valantin

Tim Wakefield (I used to throw a knuckleball in softball)

Tom Gordon

Pedro Martinez

Jason Varitek

Rich Garces

Manny Ramirez

Bill Mueller

Alex Gonzalez

Alex Cora

Adrian Beltre

Daniel Nava

Jose Iglesias

Koji Uehara

Jackie Bradley Junior

Chris Freakin' Sale

Rafael Devers

Marco Hernandez

Another 5+ runs allowed start. We must lead the league. . . .

The Red Sox lead the Major Leagues in runs scored; only four of the divisional cellar dwellers (Orioles, Tigers, Mariners, Pirates) and the Rockies have allowed more runs. Is it too late for the Red Sox to rent another pitching coach for the rest of the season, or are these pitchers just drained from the 2018 World Series championship run?

I was speaking about just the starting pitchers, and specifically about games letting up 5 or more runs per start.

This team has no spark. This will wind up as our 9th loss in the last 10. I thought we were better but you are what your record says you are in the words of the Big Tuna.

Ironic that the NY Mets of all teams were able to assemble 12 wins in 13 games with a nothing special team, except a couple good starters. Oh wait, don't we have some of those. Guess not
