What I'm saying is that they're scoring plenty of runs, but the pitching sucks. If the pitching was better the W-L record would be where it should be.

Would be interesting to see each teams rpg avg 2018 vs 2019.

I would guess most are increased?

Agreed. Last night we didn't put up a ton of runs, but as I have said in the past..... Why can't the pitching steal us a few games? They did it last year quite a bit but this year it seems if we don't score 6 plus we lose. That is on the pitching.

The bottom line is, though, we are tied for the most runs scored per game in the majors. You can't ask for much more than that.

So I have made a point about the demos in the ratings from baseball before. This game from last night: The 18-49 male demo only pulled a 2.1. The 65+ demo (meaning me) did an 11.8. So while I have pointed out that the 65+ demo is pulling down 5x the numbers of the demo MLB should actually want, last night my demo actually exceeded 5x the 18-49 demo.

GOOD LUCK WITH THAT MLB! Oh yea, Manfred, this is working. Get your head out of your ass and fast because it won't be long before my demo is pushing up daisies.

I wonder what the demos were 20, 30 and 40 years ago.

Us older folks are more likely to stay home and watch TV . The younger demo will grow older and become the new older demo . That is life . Plenty of young fans are at the ballparks . Just give them a reason to be .

That is not the issue. As the previous poster's question implies, the bell curve for ratings has followed MY GENERATION out of what was a much broader base of demographically based fandom. Its the trend that is the issue, not whether older fans will stay home more. The bell curve is now too sharp at its peak and that peak is 65+ year olds. Do you actually see many young fans at the park that have any earthly idea what is going on in the field of play or are they just having a good time, out on the town, singing Sweet Caroline? Judging by most of the young people I know, when they do get older they sure as heck won't be watching MLB baseball in enough numbers to matter.

Overall across all of MLB:

2019 4.82 runs per game .252/.322/.433/.756 slashline ERA 4.48

2018 4.48 runs per game .248/.318/.409/.728 slashline ERA 4.14

Interestingly, this year looks a bit like 2017

2017 4.65 rums per game .255/.324/.426/.750 slashline ERA 4.35

Thanks IL.

I am guessing the 2018 numbers are for the full season? Would expect the 2019 numbers to increase as the summer and hot weather continues. Would be interesting to revisit at the end of the season
