6 people are in custody and another one is still at large. Robbery has been ruled out. It was a planned hit - an assassination attempt. Just nuts!

The video of the driver getting stomped is pretty brutal.

I know that Papi loves his homeland and his people, but if a drug lord is behind this with the complicity of police, he should never return there, and he should get his family out too.

Nope. It was black and white. The other video had lots of blood in it.

I want to see Papi back in the dugout where he belomgs. Helpin AC run the Sox (or vice versa). Mookie woundn't be hitting about 90 points below his 2018 performance. !

to me...this is exactly why he should return there. perhaps he can make a change in how things are? easy for me to say as i am not being hunted.....

So far the drug lord/police story is nothing but a rumor, right?

Is it worth noting that one of the men involved also hired another person to help him carry out a murder in Pennsylvania, apparently over a minor dispute.

The man’s name is Luis Rivas-Clase...

Which part is the rumor, the drug lord part or the police complicity? If either or both turn out to be true, I don’t think he should return. When big drug money is involved, Justice systems get corrupted. I would never feel safe again, maybe not even in the US, but i’d take my chances here.

That is a real order, and he would have to think about his family’s safety too.

Both parts are just rumors, right?

Not that I have seen any other theories.

Still, maybe I’m over influenced by Hollywood, but part of me thinks drug lords can afford more competent hitmen and don’t view contract murder as a place to bargain hunt...

But I agree. He would be safer in the US. Maybe not Boston, as it’s a little obvious for him to go there...

I'm not sure if it would make a difference if he went to Boston or LA. It's not like he's going into hiding.

Ortiz discharged home from MGH. Not on a normal diet yet, but he’s finally out of the hospital

I'll bet he more like ThinPapi these days. That is opposite of FatBeni for those who have a sense of humor.

lucky to be alive.

dont dip your pen in another man's ink

Wasn’t it a case of mistaken identity?

To me the moral of the story is “when pricing hitmen, don’t suddenly get cheap.”

Although I’m not sure I can use this lesson in my daily life...

Maybe the kingpin was near his spending limit . Had to go cheap on the hitmen .

The bottom line seems to be that the truth in Papi's case is about as likely to be known as the truth in the JFK assassination...

So you think it was a big conspiracy with ties all the way up to and including Keith Richards and the Hostess Corporation? Big Twinkie is in on it?

Personally I think the (Woody) Harrelson family may be involved at some level.

Well yeah. That goes without saying. Also Winona Ryder and the Columbia House Company. (Get your first eight hitmen for a penny!! Ah but you have to buy lots more later!)

No, but that is a common misconception.

The popularity of the mp3 pushed Columbia House out of the music distribution industry and into the next logical step of murder for hire. Happens all the time. K-Tel did it too...

I think that none of the parties involved in the assassination attempt want the truth to come out- the DR police force, the DR government, Ortiz and the assassins. We will never learn the truth.
