With so many potential 100 loss teams in the AL it means that a team that would normally be around .500 (like Texas or Oakland) is likely going to end up with 90+ wins, because somebody has to win these games. I think Boston will easily make the postseason but there's going to be one unexpected team hanging around for a wild card spot all season.

 

Also I don't like muting the broadcast because I still like hearing the game action and crowd. If only there was a "Mute Announcers" option.

 

I honestly think you are going to see your 3 division winners be well over 100 wins. The Astros and Twins could be 110 game winners just due to the absolute trash that is that division, especially if the A's and Guardians don't turn it on. Some middling clubs will benefit from the tankers and should bump up their win totals, but I think we are seeing a pulling away of the top teams and the tankers, leaving a small amount of middling squads to push upwards.

 

Right now, the Yanks, Rays, Twins, and Astros are the top tier in the AL. The Orioles, Royals, Jays, Mariners, and Tigers are the tankers. This leaves the Red Sox, White Sox, Angels, A's, Rangers, and Guardians in that middle tier. Of the middle tier, I expect the White Sox, Angels, and Rangers to end up in the 90 loss range mostly due to their abject lack of depth. This means the Red Sox, A's and Guardians are the only 3 in the "middling" group that are going for it that seem to have the talent necessary to win a playoff berth. By the deadline, one of those three will fade behind the other 2 and be sellers. In my estimation, the tankers, plus the early season fakers, plus the late falling middling team will comprise the sellers in the AL. By Aug 1, I expect 9 of the 15 teams in the AL to sell off their parts to the other 6 (plus the NL) and the baseball to be played beyond Aug 1 will be abysmal 60% of the time.

With the 11 west coast games in 11 days to start the season and with the 2 games in London against the Yankems being ruled SOX home games, the AL schedule makers went out of their way to make the SOX road to the PO's as difficult as possible.

That would make sense but apparently it was OK'd by the Sox president:

 

“We like the concept of being the home team in London because we have connections with Liverpool (the Red Sox’s parent company, Fenway Sports Group, also is the parent company of Liverpool FC) and we have a London office so we get certain rights and benefits as the home team over there, our season ticket holders will have the opportunity to get tickets, our sponsors will have access to the games, so we like some of the benefits of being the home team.” According to Kennedy, Red Sox season ticket holders already have shown a strong interest in purchasing tickets to the London contests, which are set for June 29 and June 30, 2019. Kennedy expects both games at the 55,000-seat London Stadium to sell out. “It’s an economic reality that it was just easier to buy out Red Sox home games for the league,” Kennedy added. “So the Yankees have been great. They’ve wanted it to happen as much or even more.”

 

According to Kennedy, Red Sox season ticket holders already have shown a strong interest in purchasing tickets to the London contests, which are set for June 29 and June 30, 2019. Kennedy expects both games at the 55,000-seat London Stadium to sell out.

They are in fact away games for Boston because during the American Revolution the Continental Army--largely, Massachusetts militia--kicked the British out of Boston in March 1776, and they never returned. The Howe brothers--general and admiral--attacked NYC in late June 1776 and the British owned it by October 1776 and until the end of the American Revolution in 1783.
