Yeah Wizards had an opportunity, but messed up by having no bench and causing their stars to play 45+ minutes a game and by the time they reached conference finals were completely gassed. Now they're stuck in basketball purgatory with a star player in Beal, an injured star in Wall, no GM, and numerous s***** contracts that GM who was just fired signed. Its gonna be a rough, long, rebuild.

I know that feeling all too well my friend. They will get there and hopefully learn from their mistakes. That falls on ownership and coaching. I had Washington pegged as a team to possibly make a run at the finals. Of course Lebron would step up against anyone in the Conf. But I think Washington will get back there again. Rebuilds aren’t pleasant. I have seen my fair share haha.

Just got back from the game. What a bummer. My mojo has been a no-go.

We had our chances. The Devers HR hits a rafter. Chavis looked lost at 2B. Man on 3rd with no outs in the ninth with no run. And more.

Barnes looked awful.

I'm going again tomorrow. Gonna wear my Papi jersey to break the spell.

The Astros are missing their best 2 players -- Altuve and Springer and we still cannot beat them.

True, but we lost Price and had JD on the bench.

So did Lincoln, but he was still a great president.

I wasn't saying he was bad, my comment was more meant to say I can't judge him. I never really comment on older players as they are hard for me to judge just based on highlights. From everything I've heard Pistol Pete was amazing. One of my bosses told me he was a rich mans Steve Nash, which is pretty f***ing good lol.

It honestly fees like Wizards have been rebuilding my whole life lol. Its been rough, and having incompetent GM/owner does not help.

For those who called a sweep vs the Astros or even a 2-1 outcome, you do not recognize what you are seeing day in-day out. The Sox are a disorganized hot mess right now with little direction or motivation. WTF Cora is flailing away trying to find the magic wand, but it's stuck in a dark place right now. JDM, the only serious hitter here, is broke-backed and incapable of delivering. Your Ace Chris Sale cannot win any game he enters, not all his fault. This is a 88 win team going down a drain that is sweeping them into the pits of baseball history.

Oh yeah, to hell with all the NBA commentary, nobody gives a damn.

Verlander vs ERod today should be interesting. The Yanks go with German vs the only real pitcher the Royals have in Duffy. The Rays throw an opener against Bauer. It’s at least lining up on paper to be a good day for the Bombers!

Bell, can't help but notice that your Avatar is about where I have Cora so far this year.

My avatar is just a little joke about the Cliff.

I see that the Game Threaders consensus is now that Cora got lucky last year. No surprise. Game Threaders are a miserable lot when the team is going bad.

The Wizards have a long history of ineptitude and won exactly 1 NBA title. The NFL team will continue to languish with Dan Snyder as owner. The Nationals rebounded beautifully from the Expos that had been, but now seem to be going in the wrong direction. Which leaves the Capitals, who a year ago won their very first Stanley Cup. Many decades ago it was said: "Washington. First in war, first in peace, and last in the American League."

I've lived here (Fairfax County) off and on since 1956 and saw my very first MLB game at Griffith Stadium (the year before vs. the Guardians, still pretty good a year after the Giants demolished them) and, frankly, always thought Baltimore was a better sports town. Maybe that Baltimore fighting spirit goes back to the summer of 1814 when the British came up the Potomac, demolished DC, burned the Capitol, burned the White House, and tried to do the same thing to Baltimore but were stopped cold.

i don't think Cora got lucky. He is just stuck. In a bad spot. Lots not going right, some of it his own doing and some not. Before you know it, in the swirl you are confronting every day, you forget you are standing on the edge of a cliff......and.....

He didn't get lucky last year. But he is not some magician and he is not above making some really bad strategic decisions. That much is now clear. I think his in game decisions are actually pretty good. The thing is, you can rationalize them, every one of them. You may not agree with them. But you can see how Cora made a particular in game decision. They are not in conflict with his overall strategic vision either. Don't see him playing many hunches and I HATE Managers that spend their entire careers rubbing a magic lamp (playing hunches).

I know Snyder is one of the dumbest Owners in the NFL. Didn't know he Owned the Bullets, oh wait now the Wizards.

Don't watch NBA anymore, don't like the game. Used to love it.

Like College better, much better.

Anyway, Love the NHL. If you don't understand the game it could come across as boring. To me nothing is more intense then Play-offs. If it goes to Overtime, its intense, even if you don't root for your Team.

Love this Bruin Team, of older Players, and young kids. Cassidy, is a great Coach, has a lot of Belichick in him, as far as strategy, and changing in game tactics. There is a ton of things going on in a Hockey Game, in 2 HRS and 20 minutes, on the average. Very fast game. With 2 intermissions. Skating is tough, these guys make it look like they are walking.

Always maintain the best conditioned athletes of all the Sports.

Pistol Pete Maravich had more skills than any basketball player who ever lived. He averaged over 44 points a game in three years of college at LSU without the 3 point line. He would have easily averaged over 50 points a game. He was the greatest ball handler and passer in the history of basketball, including anyone playing today.

Go moonslav!!!! I want to see some in game reports. Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away I was working in Oklahoma, and the only MLB teams would could get on radio was the Astros with guys like Little Joe Morgan (later a star with the Reds and then an announcer), and I have fond memories of listening to those games.

Apologies. I was out socializing and didn't see the game, so thought I would just make some stuff up. Watched the recap videos this morning and feel much better about our team's efforts. Just a frustrating season for all concerned, but you guys on this site keep it amusing and informative.
