Chavis is a force. A bright spot in a dark room.[/quote

Chavis should hit somewhere Moreland is right now.

With Moreland 5 for his last 41 ABs Chavis couldn’t do any worse

Another starter fails to get a win. So the total wins so far by SOX starters remains at 3.

That’s flat out embarrasing for a high payroll team. Think about it. There’s 5 starters . They have played what? Almost 30 games lol.

Well here I have a bright spot for us. These Sox games go by in what for them is a flash these days. What are they, 2:08 going into the top of the 9th! Since when??

Little by little the season’s falling apart. They had a chance to get back into this by winning these two games. The cubs where able to do that and this team’s still under 500.

This is why Hembree needs to come into clean innings like this. I will bet the mortgage that if he had com in with ducks on the pond it would have gone about like that....if anything WORSE!

Chavis showing some of his inexperience , last night and just now. needed to eat the ball and hold the runner to third.

In fairness 7 innings 4 runs. This s*** offense should have come through. But I don’t expect much of them anymore.

Decent performance by Sale . But he will not be a dominant ace if he becomes a finesse pitcher . A little hard to get excited about today's performance because the Rays are very strikeout prone . Let's see how he does the next couple of starts .

He was hitting 92-94 pretty consistently, and he has looked improved, but you are right: he needs to do even better.

3 runs in 2 games isn't a recipe for wins, even if you had vintage Koufax and vintage Pedro on the hill.

Agreed completely. Looked like it was about to turn around but then they go back to this. Just can’t get out of the bottom ten offense hole this season. Night and day from last seaso.

They would have to go on a couple of long winning streaks to get back in this thing combined with a few collapses. I can see teams collapsing. I just don't see this team going on long winning streaks. They are still playing poorly fully 28 games into the regular season. Bad enough they were playing poorly at 10% of the season completed. We are soon to be playing poorly at 20% of the season completed. If you told me before the season started that I saw a way for this team to be kept from the final 5 teams vying for an ALCS i would have told you that was crazy. Now....not so much.

It wouldn't take too much to get right back in the pennant race . It could even happen quickly, as we have a very favorable schedule coming up . It is pretty apparent that a healthy J.D. Martinez is very much needed .

Sadly I agree completely. The only thing is we seem to have turned a corner with the pitching. But with this offense still inconsistent and the bullpen isn’t exactly stellar. We would need the starters to basically go seven shutout innings for us to have a chance. May just not be our year unfortunately.

We will be fine. The SP has come around and the offense will heat up with the weather.

Good things to come...

Is there a peek season for getting their heads screwed on straight? In fact there is and its called Spring Training. Is Devers suddenly going to turn into a decent fielder this year? Doubt it....why should he. Is Chavis going to turn into a decent 2nd baseman. Doubt it....he has too much development time ahead of him at that position even if they want him to play 2nd. Yet with Devers not even threatening the fences can they take Chavis bat out of the lineup?

But I cannot put all this on the players individually or in total. The entire organization has set itself up for this. Funny how this Pedey thing is working out. They went from having 3 guys to cover the position (Pedey, Nunez and Holt) to no guys covering the position forcing them to bring up a AA player that really is not a capable or even schooled 2nd baseman. Bad enough that the obvious defensive liabilities are mucking things up but the guys we are depending on are simply not doing any better. Giving away bases turns into giving away runs and the offense has not really shown that it is coming around as yet. All these other teams are playing in the same cold we are playing in. Do we somehow think their bats won't heat up with warmer weather?

They have a chance to crawl back into contention, get to the final 5 and win out to the ALCS. I seriously doubt they are capable of winning this division this year with the Yanks and Rays in it. Realistically, they have to get past one of them just to get to the final 5.

This team is just so hot and cold I don't know what to think. As I mentioned before, the starting rotation is getting hot which is nice and even Sale (who was far from perfect) ended up having a decent game against a good Tampa team. If the bats could just say consistent we would be competing for the division.

Two of Sales 4 runs were unearned thanks to Devers and, I believe, the lackluster effort by JBJ to catch that triple.

Also, some credit to the Ray pitching, which is actually pretty good this year.

Bottom line: these guys have forgotten how--what it takes--to win games. ST was a textbook on how not to prepare to defend your title.

Chavis to me is a great fix at 2b because he can actually hit which last year's stalwart Kinsler could not do. I don't care about Nunez, Pedey or Lin and do not see them bringing much to the table.

I'm also thoroughly disgusted with Devers and JBJ. Devers still isn't hitting the way he should/could and has become a buffoon at 3b and on the basepaths. JBJ is a buffoon at the plate and not nearly the stellar CF he has been in the past.

I have no problems with the two catchers even though Leon can't hit. The rotation looks almost decent. The bullpen is up and down, maybe because they were used so much when the rotation couldn't get past the 3d or 4th inning. And I see these 7 decent bats: Beni, Betts, Moreland, JDM, Bogie, Chavis, and Vazquez--with the real possibility that Devers will finally see the light.
