Well, now that the Yankees are done raping, pillaging and plundering us for a while...

Tanaka had another rough one tonight, against the Birds.

Not really. Tanaka ran out of gas and Boone hung him out to dry. We’re having a pen game tomorrow, so Tanaka was asked to go deeper. Through 5, 5IP 6H 2ER 2BB 3K. Not great, but good enough. He lets Tanaka give up 4 straight hits and put the tying run on base before pulling him. Stupid when you have a starter dealing with Tanaka’s issues

Fair enough.

Defense saved tanaka from 3 additional runs all in separate innings. Masa didn't look good after the lineup turned over just once. Luckily the murderers row of tauchman, ford, valera, and romine combined for 4 HRs and 7 RBIs.

Defense helped for sure, but early on Tanaka got the splitter to work. With his limited velocity since the partial UCL tear, he’s entirely dependent on the slider and splitter. The slider has been pretty reliable, but the splitter is the only thing he has that changes the eye level. When he loses feel for the splitter, he’s toast. This happens every single year for about a month to six weeks where he’s barely pitchable. Last night, he had some good ones but lost it in the inning he got shelled. I think he’s coming out of it, well, I hope he is. We’re gonna need him

Just saw stats showing that Mike Tauchman has a 1.8 WAR (6th on the Yankees, 95th out of all position players in the MLB) despite only playing 59 games w/ 190 PAs. His slash line is .294/.368/.541 with a 137 wRC+

Pretty wild. I remember Yankee fans wondering what he was doing on the roster at the beginning of the year (myself included), and now he's a core part of the current team.. or at least until everyone gets healthy. I don't think his play is sustainable but it's been fun to watch.

I like what Tauchman has delivered, but he one who really impressed me so far is Urshella, GG defense and an excellent bat so far bWAR 2.1 OPS+ 132, he has more than 300PA, I he continues this level of performance, we might be ready to ship Andujar for some SP next year, this coming from a HUGE fan of Andujar

Tauchman is entirely legit. His first two times up, he was a pull happy lefty incapable of hitting the outside pitch. Since he’s returned, he’s been a hitter capable of driving the ball the other way. He was another Voit guy. High exit velo, never got the chance, buried behind good talent. We stole him for essentially nothing. He alone has made Clint Frazier entirely superfluous. Tauchman is hitting himself into the equation for next year and probably saving the Yanks some money in the process

Yanks took over the #1 spot in runs and runs/game. Twins second in runs/game, but third in overall runs as they’ve played less games than the Sox. Sox dipped to third in runs/game

Tauchman's season is virtually over as of today.

I just picked him up on my fantasy team. :D

9 in a row with 3 more vs the Jays followed by 4 against the O’s. We might not have another high pressure game the rest of the way until playoff time Edited by jacksonianmarch

Jays are crushing it tonight.

The guy who’s performance the last four seasons was far better than anyone gave him credit for? Yes. He has been an abject disaster this year. When Sevy returns next month, it’ll be JA’s rotation spot he takes. We’ll likely deal JA in the offseason with a massive amount of money going with him.

I’m trying to figure out why Tarpley keeps getting chances. I wonder if he has compromising pics of Boone

I think it's because he's the only other pitcher on the 40 man roster who isn't injured. I imagine Loaisaga will replace him once healthy.

Assuming we win the ALE, not a huge stretch at this point, we’re gonna need to keep in mind something for the POs. Tanaka is dirty on 5 days rest. Yanks pushed him back today and he’s allowed 1 hit through 5 and that one hit should have been an error. He’s always been nasty on 5 days rest.

That actually marches out for the ALDS for game 1 and game 5.
