Mata still struggling with walks.

5.2 innings pitched 3 hits, 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. Zero runs allowed.

Mata’s Era is currently 0.54!

He should be ready for Portland by June 1, provided he gets the walks under control.

The cupboard is bare I tells ya!

I don't expect Ockimey to keep it up tho.

If he does, maybe he'd get us something in trade.

Best case scenario unless the Sox want to use him as a platoon guy.

He always seems to swoon in the 2nd half.

Great game by Houck tonight!

The Sox might need him once they decide to cut bait with Colten Brewer...

So far so good for Chatman (future starter at 2b?), Duran (future starting CF?) and Shawaryn (replaces Porcello in the rotation?). Not only these three--the Red Sox minor league system as a whole is taking a huge step forward with pitchers like Hernandez, Houck, and Mata.

It does seem to match up with our near future holes opening due to free agency:

1B: (Moreland/Pearce) Chavis or Dalbec (or Devers to 1B with Ockimey as a long shot & Casas far away)

2B: (Pedey/Nunez/Holt) Chatham

CF: Duran

SP: (Porcello) Hernandez/Shawaryn/Houck/Mata)

Our best and rising prospects are playing the right positions.

Are you aware who the Sox GM/President is?

Well, you had to switch positions on a few guys there...

Dalbec would not change positions- Devers would, if Dalbec proves he belongs in the bigs.

But then fans are getting worked up over Chatham to the point of switching his position based on his insanely unsustainable .435 BABIP and crazy low FB rate that is carried by a high amount of infield pop ups.

Chatham’s best skill is his glove, which would be best utilized at more a difficult position like SS. It’s not uncommon to see glove-first and glove-only shortstops. How often do you see a glove-only second baseman?

I'd be all for moving Bogey to 3B or 2B, but didn't want to open a can of worms until we know Chatham can play at the ML level.

Chatham has turned into a really good line drive hitter as I believe he has changed his swing recently. It was mentioned in a lot of offseason reports. I don't know if his bat is good enough for MLB, but he's a better hitter than he was given credit for a few years ago.

Campana and benge with their first taters of the season.

Marrero with his second tater of the season.

Mata had control problems today and got roughed up, fastball day at 94-95.

Andersen Espinoza just had his second TJS surgery scheduled

I'm glad that you posted this and not me. Come on Slasher, it wasn't me. Actually I feel really bad for this kid. While I think of it though - How about Moncada these days. At 23, it is likely that he realizes the great potential that he had when signed. Good luck to both of these kids.

Things aren't looking all that bad down on the farm these days. Pretty good for one of the absolute worst programs in ml baseball.

Yup, all the right prospects are making decent progress this year.

We certainly have some higher hopes on a few key players.

I'm hopeful and cautiously optimistic, but I do wish we had a couple blue chippers in the system.
