That entire franchise and their fanbase is sore losers. I was browsing the Astros board after we won the series. Maybe 3 on the entire board gave the Red Sox credit. Anything else was just laughable. I saw everything from "Red Sox cheated, Replay booth helped them, Umps were on their side, Sox bought their team." Lmao.

They went from "We will sweep them, or at worst win in game 5." To giving every excuse under the sun as to why we kicked their ass 4 games to 1. Special breed of fans in Texas.

Good thing we don't have any of that sort of thing on here.

We were actually pretty respectful when we lost to the Astros last year. We were mad and a lot of us wanted changes in management but we gave Houston a lot of credit for the season they had, same with Cleveland the year prior. I think we more get mad at the team, not the umps or the opposing team. But I am sure some of us do. Always some fans in every fan base that looks for excuses.

Won't lie, that's actualyy some pretty classy answers. He is giving the Sox and the umps their due. Even in defeat Verlander stayed classy. I have no problem with anything he said.

Yeah I had no problem with his comments. I know I'm not the only one who never saw HR when Devers hit that ball, I was thinking deep fly and a 2 run lead and I was fine with that. When the outfielder turned I couldn't believe it, then screamed my customary "Get Out Of Here!!!". I picked that up from Sparky Anderson on a WS Home Run when he was in Cincy and for some reason I've been screaming it ever since.

The stros are full of themselves! For a team with one World Series they sure talk a lot of garbage. Can’t stand their fans either.

Pretenders with big mouths have not faired well this post season. Judge with his NY, NY nonsense in our park and Bregman with his stupid tweet got exactly what they deserve. We for some reason seem to encourage this juvenile nonsense and then we revel when it blows up in the player's faces. One or the other please. Doing both at the same time does not make much sense. But it does speak to bigger societal issues than we are not going to resolve in a baseball forum.

The SOX have already beaten the 2nd and 3rd best teams in MLB. No reason to lose to the weak sister NL.

This is exactly how I feel.

Although the WS remains a crap shoot. Anything can happen.

That's too bad Verlander had so much to say. I always thought of him as a classy guy, but apparently that's only when he's winning.

What he said about Devers HR might have had a little credence if it had happened in Fenway ('...a 315' fly ball that would be an out anyplace else') but he trashed his own stadium! I have to wonder how many times he got the benefit of the Crawford Boxes during games he won.

And BTW, why are they called the Crawford Boxes? Did Carl Crawford hit a HR there once? :confused:b:)

Apparently, Verlander's been hanging around his whiny girlfriend too long. LOL

But I was going to say the exact same thing. I am sure the Astros have benefited from well more than their share of those 'cheap' home runs. At least the Yankees pitchers didn't whine about Vazquez' home run to short right field. At least I hope they didn't.

That's really too bad. I didn't realize they were such sore losers. And to think, I was really happy for them that they won the Series last year, once the Sox were eliminated. Oh well, suck it up Houston fans!

A big part of Kimbrel's success has been the result of hitters offering at his breaking stuff that is about a foot out of the zone. If they know when it is coming, they can lay off of it and he will just look wild.

That makes sense.

If so, I hope there is a quick and easy fix.

And David Price did not allow any popups into the Crawford boxes.

I'm sure it's been posted many times already in this thread (which I don't have time to read all of), but I need to give a shout out to Price for coming up huge last night.

Right on, David!

Yup. We have eliminated the toughest opponents, IMO. That said, the Sox cannot take either of the NL teams lightly (and I don't think they will). Anything can happen in a short series. One game at a time.

We absolutely won this series not the Astros losing it. We got huge two out RBI’s. Our bullpen was actually a little better than theirs and our defense was really good at pivotal moments. Once they got down it did seem like they folded up the tent which surprised me. I think we just apposed our will on them which made them fold up.

Did someone mention Manny?

which knee was it that you hurt once again Manny? The other one - ok.

Love Manny.

Growing up he was my favorite player, its sucks the way his career in both Boston and in the MLB ended, but I still like the guy. I still think he is best RHH I have ever seen.

Completely agree.

I LOVE me some Manny

Oh I suppose I shouldn't say much because even though I thought he was an nitwit, he still could swing that bat. I fully recognize his value and immense talent but whatever I was and still am a huge Clemens fan. Doesn't make any difference to me whether he was a juicer or not.

The taking advantage of an underage girl didn't bother you either?

I loved his quiet serious hitting approach. He always remained calm in the box.

He also spent a long time in the batting cage.

He played the game to have fun, and for that, many ridiculed him.

I get how there was much more to ridicule him over, and much of it was warranted, but the guy was a kid in a man's body, and it was so enjoyable watching him play for us.

Not sure where you are going here. Have to say though that I don't really pay too much attention to the lives that any of these guys lead off the field. i of course route for the hometeam but none of them really meant too much to me.

I think people thought that Manny genuinely didn't care or try, but the amount of time he actually put into hitting was ridiculous. This guy was a special talent. I actually liked the way he enjoyed the game, sure his fielding was bad, and his base running was questionable, but man at the plate was this guy something to watch.
