Price does seem to do better with Sandy. But I would not really let a game against the O's lead to any real conclusions.

The way hitters hit now has made the Change the single most critical pitch in baseball, more so than the split, more than the FB, more than any cutter or curve.

Their bats typically don't stay in the hitting zone long enough to even get a bat on a Change even if it is up in the zone. That did not used to be the case. As long as the the pitcher throwing the Change stays out of the middle of the plate, guys like the typical O's hitter are not going to hit the thing even if its up.

LH pitchers even throw it to LH hitters now...unheard of in the past. Price has thrown Changes and Cutters all day and they can't touch him. Did from the first inning on.

I think career its 2 runs different in ERA. Not just the Orioles.

Now that's a sweet swing by JBJ.

Keeps going oppo through the end of the season might just save his salary potential.

As much as the Sox booth talks about how sweet Beni's swing is, LH hitters swings have always looked impressive if they are good hitters. But I would take Mookie's swing over Beni's every day and twice on Sunday. Its short, its quick. He keeps his bat in the hitting zone longer than Beni does. Mookie has the best swing on this club. JD has the purest swing on this club. Devers has the most violent swing on this club. Beni's swing is....pretty.

Yeah, Beni's just a pretty swing. The dude is hitting over .300 with power. And not all LH's have pretty swings. Check out Mitch and Chris Davis.

If the 2nd game is postponed, there's 2 options. They could play 2 tomorrow, or play the postponed game Monday, because both teams are off.

Why don’t they move the game to 6:05 or earlier than that?

Always wanted JBJ to be like Al Oliver, same size kind of Players, strong, just keep his head down on the ball. That was a sweet HR.

2022.....Oh my God.

Does sort of make you wonder though. Davis is 32. Tulo is 33. Donaldson is 32. These are not that old to be just broken down shells of themselves. There is something behind this trend that we are not seeing. Either they are using and their bodies are breaking down through chemical abuse or the game is just killing them off at a faster rate. While I would expect these guys at that age to be making the turn or at the 11th hole. These guys are basically done.

They are far from the only examples either. Not by a long shot.

I'm beginning to think there's some Beni haters.

Don't hate Beni. Tired of hearing about the pretty swing as if its the best swing on this club. It just isn't. Its often just too long, too big. Once Dever's swing gets a bit less violent and he actually learns how to work AB's, he will be a better hitter than Beni. But Beni's swing will still be ......prettier.

Yeah, whatever. I doubt very much that Devers will ever be a better hitter than Beni. If Devers can achieve a .260-.270 average and 20-25 Hr's, the SOX organization will be happy.

Turned TV over to watch ending of Yankem game. Texas had the bases loaded against Ckapman in the 9th and failed to score. Btw, Ken Simpleton, was working the booth with Mary Kaye. "You're stupid as you look" is usually a meaningless insult, but in the case of Simpleton, it's a stone-cold fact. He is one dumb slug.

Devers could be, when I saw him in the Minors, he went to Left Field big time. In Fenway, that's huge. Now he's trying to get exit velocity, and launch angle. Thats why there is only 18 batters in the Majors hitting .300 or better. That's ridiculous.

Do you understand the concept of a seperate admission doubleheader? You have to clear the park, the parking lot, clean up and then start the whole process of letting people who have tickets to the night game into the park.

And it is utterly unfair to those who do hold tickets to the night game to start it earlier on late notice.

As I pointed out previously (which you would have seen if you actually read the thread), if tonight is rained out, they will probably just do this dance tomorrow. Monday is an off day, so no big deal. Plus they are in Philadelphia on Tuesday and Wednesday; thaey will almost certainly be taking a charter bus there. So no travel issues. Or they could play the make-up on Monday or Thursday (off days for both teams), again with minimal travel issues.

I think he'll hit 40 HRs someday.

He's still only 21 and has been playing "above his level" from the start. I'm not sure I'd read too much into his .245 BA this year or .259 career MLB BA either.

There's still a lot of hope he ends up hitting for average and power.

.322 Rk '14

.288 A '15

.282 A+ '16

.300 AA '17 (.284 MLB in 240 PAs '17)

.245 in 2018 MLB (407 PAs)

Maybe the .245 is just a blip for the 21 year old.

Devers hit .296 in the minors while facing pitchers several years older than him.

He also has 26 HRs in his first 650 PAs of MLB. Don't you think a 20-25 HR estimate is a bit low?

Move the damn game to 6:05. It’s not like the birds fans are showing up for this crap.

But a lot of Red Sox fans who live in the Baltimore-Washington area are planning on showing up (and there are a lot).

Playing 2 tomorrow is no different than playing 2 today.

I hope the kid becomes the next George Brett. And if I'm gonna be wrong, I'd rather be wrong on the low end.
