Kinsler is still solid defensively.. He's a solid get IMO. I wonder whose getting let go when Devers is back?

We do at least stop running Nunez out there too much.

Sort of meh for me. Kinsler is a shell of himself. His defense hopefully is okay

Meh Synonyms:

boring

humdrum

monotone

pedestrian

plodding

banausic

bland

dim

dreary

Kinsler has been the 2nd best defensive 2B in the majors this year, wRC+ by month: 66, 76, 102, 143

Trying to win World Series, great move.

Stupid move. Is he that much better than what Philips could give? There goes two more chips that could have been used for a reliever.

Phillips is hitting.200 in AAA and recently got hurt.

Phillips is hitting like .230 in the minors and hurt his hand... Kinsler has been a 2.5 WAR player this year in MLB with elite defense...

Those symptoms describe winnie the pooh's friend eeyore and are "spot on". What's next for "dealin' dave"? Miguel Cabrera and his 200 million left on his contract for a bench bat with pop? (After he comes back from DL)

The Sox farm system is now looking like a barren desert after the biblical swarm of locusts has come through. Oh well, don't have to worry about any moves during the hot stove this year.

Hopefully he can keep that up. Improving defense to a vortex there is quite an upgrade.

Williams Jerez and Ty Buttrey going to LA. That is quite an overpay.

Williams Jerez and Ty Buttrey, 26 years old and 25 years old, have yet to make their MLB debuts.

Ian improves defense and adds pop to the line-up with his 13 HR's. Holt can now return to being super sub and Nunez can remain playing good D at 3rd. When Devers returns, a decision may be easier to make on who goes.

Ian Kinsler and Dustin Pedroia come full circle.

In 2016 a Detroit blogger wrote:

Because Kinsler and Pedroia's story goes way back to their college days. After his freshman year at Central Arizona College, Kinsler was recruited to Arizona State University with the assurance that he'd be the team's starting shortstop. But, only a few games into the season, head coach Pat Murphy bumped Kinsler in favor of a certain scrappy freshman who hadn't been expected to develop so quickly. Instead of playing shortstop at a major college, Kinsler found himself riding the bench most of the year while Pedroia played his position. Judging by everything we've seen from Kinsler over the years, it's hard to imagine he took that in stride. Kinsler left the program, transferring to Missouri for his junior year. He performed well there, and found himself drafted at season's end.

This trade for Kinsler pretty much confirms that the Sox do not even consider Pedroia a long shot to return. Kinsler will be a rental and average at that. Not that Nunez doesn't need some rest, but he was one of the winners in the 2-1 over Phillies. Good for him.

Nunez playing 3rd works for me. He's a completely different player at 3rd than he is at 2nd. This move can only strengthen the SOX infield defense.
