Like Ted Williams, Mookie is getting hosed yet again by the writers for mvp:

Michael Trout remains firmly in control of the American League MVP Award race. Even with Mookie Betts, J.D. Martinez and Jose Ramirez having monstrous seasons, Trout continues to lead our writers poll by a wide margin. As for the National League race, it couldn't be more wide open, as six players

Look at the points, Mike Trout has Mookie blown away. MLB is doing everything they can to anoint Trout the GOAT at the expense of Mookie. So Sad. Writers should not be involved in voting for anything.

Regrettable yes.

At least we get to see Marcus play for our team.

They can suck a fat one. Betts is blowing Trout away, and is a lot more valuable to the Sox and Trout is to the A-Halos.

I would like to suggest a potential reason for this but it would lead to a nasty political s*** storm.

I think it's because most writers haven't really poured over the numbers. They'll do so at year end and give it to the rightful guy.

#Letthestatgeeksvote

I can understand the love for Trout, but I don't understand such a wide difference between the votes for him and Mookie.

I would like to give a shout out to Trout for the way he has handled Manfred's comments about not making himself more marketable, and also for placing more importance on playing baseball over marketing himself. Nicely done.

You were in Burma at the end of the war? Holy crap man. Wow. I have been multiple times to and have a connection with Burma. I've read much about the WWII campaign in Burma. The stories you could tell.

I can't compare apples and oranges, but if we were talking similarities, knowing the differences in 50 lbs of one and 25 lbs off the other would help.

I was in Burmaa from late 1944 to mid February of 1945. The next 6 months were spent in Kunming, Chian andSept to Decemb (post-war) were spent in Shanghai. Now THAT was really tough duty!

Wow!

Burma is a long way from Fenway, especially in the 40's. That is a whole other world over there.

Ever get to fly in a P-40? What was the plane you saw the most during your time at Kunming?

What were you doing on VE Day?

Thank you for your service to our wonderful country and thank you for your awesome stories has heard, but for those who haven, here it is:

The off-the-field Mookie is obvious. Ted’s were more complictedd. There was the left fielder loping after a bll in the left corner, waiting for the sucker to stop rolling so he could pick it up. (The giving “THE AM” to the JF ans, as the booed him to dugout. There was also the TW My wife and I mey (fall of 1969 I think) in the Hancock (NH) INN while having lunch. I recall we, Ted, and his hunting buddy were the only ones there. I went to his table and thanked him for the many happy memories I had of his playing days. When my wife and called for out check, the waitress said TW had taken care of it. I asked, How come:. She sad, “I’m pretty sure it was because you DID NOT ask for his autograph!” :)

I'd bet a dollar (maybe even 2) that Mookie has picked up on Ted's well known mantra: Wait-Wait-Wait-Quick-Quick-Quick

(these damn fonts are getting smaller and smaller every day).

A one-hour documentary on Williams debuts tonight on PBS at 9 PM Eastern. From Chad Finn's piece on it, it sounds great. Set your PVR's!

My DVR has been set up for this since Saturday! But I am recording the rebroadcast from 3:00 - 4:00 a.m. so it doesn't interfere with my baseball games. And The Bachelorette :o

LOL Just watched the documentary earlier today. Good stuff.

I'm trying to decide if Williams was a class A jerk or really nice guy.

He was both, I'd say - kind of a complicated guy.

That such an amazing documentary.

Kimmi, I don't know. That story about him and the kid in the hospital slayed me though. The one where the kid didn't want Ted to leave and Ted got them to bring a cot and stayed with the kid overnight.

Bell is as usual probably annoyingly super duper correct. Its complicated.
