I admire Rick's attitude say as compared to Price . Cora must have read him this thread when he came out for a social call. But I would still pull him right now vs. Duda

Well that was a great job by Porcello getting out of that. Risky move by Cora. But he likely thinks we will just score five more runs if we have to against this bull pen. He is likely correct.

Probably at best a coin flip. I wouldn't have argued with you.

Credit to Porcello for bearing down. He dug the hole but had enough shovel to fill it back in. Nice comeback, younger guys could learn something from him. (Don't leave slop up in the zone)

Hah, JBJr raises his average, and hitting nothing but hard line drives again . Small sample of 1 but it is appreciated Jack

JDM wouldn't have beat himself up with foul balls last night if he was a better hitter (sarcasm for all the literalists here)

7 innings by Porcello and 3 runs. Outstanding. I know it's just the Royals, but neither Price nor our ace Sale did that this weekend. Gritty performance because the Royals did get 9 hits.

Whit being a 2nd baseman would be a great get for a contending team looking for a 2nd baseman.

And which team would that be ?? KC would want 2 AAA prospects and Brock Holt

Porcello certainly worked for the potential win here and got serious when it counted. Concern remains about the high strike zone frequency . He needs to pitch in the lower half and off the corners on breaking balls

Not much guess work there. I brought it up yesterday as another possible fit. What people ask for and what they get aren't always the same thing.

Yup....KC pitchers have been walking him. Letting him get the count to 3-2. This clown let JBJ get the count to 3-2 and then literally put the ball on the barrel of his bat. What did it yield? A single....

If that pitch was a little outside, JBJ would have lunged at it. If it was a little inside, he would have been late on it. JBJ is leaving nothing else to do. There is literally no way to hit even decent MLB pitching with the swing JBJ is featuring today.

Pedroia's contract, while reasonable by some standards, does pose a blocker to any 2Bman deal due to its term. Nunez is also good for one more year as well (I think). Pedey in the worst case, may have to retire but you will not find that out until next Spring after he tries again. Holt is not an impediment to a deal. If you get Merrifield, if would only be to play everyday for a few years out.

Here's something else to ponder. How about Cora platooning Devers and Nunez at 3rd?

Not sure a platoon at 3rd makes much sense. The Sox have bit the bullet and taken their chances bringing up a kid that should actually still be learning his craft. I don't think that it makes much sense to limit his playing time for nunez sake. Maybe if it gets to crunch time at the end of the season and the Sox need not to see Devers flailing in a big spot....maybe then. But until then, I would just let Devers play. Honestly the most likely guy on the team to be flailing is nunez. So I am not sure they gain much until you get to the end of the season and maybe want to play LH/RH in big spots.

Yeah, with Holt as the primary 2Bman. Devers may also be a bit weary of the grind as he doesn't have much experience and hasn't taken many days off.
