Can porcello hold this lead?

Main problem is his low pitch count 70, and immediately gives up a lead off double. Go get him now, Alex He does not have it today, neither does Devers, so put Holt on third

Veteran MLB pitchers need to know how to win even without their best stuff . Porcello saved himself there

Hey...we have been watching managers with these s*** teams strategize how to make even competitive games all season. Cash has been terrific at it this year.

So maybe the Royals strategy is to swing at everything. Compel the opposing manager to keep a guy in the game who is pitching crap but has a low pitch count. Stay in the game and hope like heck that the opponent simply laughs themselves silly to a lost game watching how the Royals actually play baseball. The stunned opponent goes back to their hotel never knowing what hit them. Probably most effective on getaway days when the trip is actually to the airport instead of the hotel.

That said, I don't see how the Royals pen can stand up to this Sox team even without JD.

Walking JBJ there was ridiculous. It should be clear that we have had our two weeks of JBJ glory at the plate. Wonder what Cora thinks of that. I said it was useless for Cora to tell JBJ not to "change a thing" when he started streaking. There is some physical law that prevents JBJ from not changing a thing and he simply does not even recognize that his swing is changing the entire time.

Yanks play 2 tomorrow, was hoping the would go 13+ innings to kill that BP, even in a loss for Toronto that's a win for us.

Going 2 against the O's is equal to going one against an average team.

His offspeed pitches tends to be in the middle of the strikezone.

Are you watching the 6th? When Porcello keeps the ball down, he is effective.

It is easy enough to see what JBJ has "changed" this time. Probably has changed more than one thing. But the one that is really obvious is that he is dropping his hands to trigger his swing differently. The butt of the bat is angled closer to perpendicular which makes the bat feel like you are swinging a sequoia tree. Now when he starts his actual swing the bat feels to him like it weighs a ton and its not moving to the hitting zone. So he is late and knows he is late....he just does not know why. As a result he is trying to make it up by being quick. But he does not have Mookie quickness with a bat in his hands. He ends up with this wristy floppy looking swing. See if he does not do it again next AB. He has been doing it all day long so far.
