Not sure what we have in Velazquez. I was hoping a good long inning person. Looks too iffy now to rescue a starter that faulters early and hold more than an inning or two.

The SOX lost that reliable long reliever when they had to insert Wright in the rotation.

Devers still sucks...both offensively and defensively. I see no potential so far. No strike zone recognition and no improvement defensively either.

Maybe Pom will come back and can fill the role. Kind of nice having someone waiting in the pen that could give you three or four good inmnings, but that is a luxury.

Btw, for that brick wall ricochet play to work, the catcher has to be informed not to catch the very high pitch.

I think you need to tip off the UMP also, or he might catch one in the face....

Good point. Still some details to work out.

Catcher jumps out like it's a pitchout. Pitcher throws to brick wall.......

I mean it’s not like he had a 2 run dinger tonight?

I think you've come up with the perfect solution. I think this outrageous idea would also work at Wrigley.

After watching arcade pinball baseball in Houston or lets hit the catwalk in Tampa that back wall hardly even qualifies as a little weird.

Showalter has already recommended to O's management that Bobby Valentine replace him.

Hahaha.

Did you used to post as Conan?

You deserve the credit for this idea. After they gun down a couple of people using it they are going to need a name for this play.

I didn't say the brick wall was weird; I just thought it could be used in a positive way.

I don't think a reliever should get credit for a save when said reliever caused the save situation.

Kimbrel does not get a save. He came in with a 4 run lead. All he gets tonight is a game finished.

Big factor tonight IMO was the 25 or so pitches he threw last night. With 30+ tonight, he will not be available tomorrow.

Sale will have to give some innings tomorrow. He usually does, but with the pen throwing roughly 9 innings the past 2 nights, they could use a break. Better yet, the Sox score a ton of runs so the back part of the pen could be used.

Thanks for the heads up about the save, or more accurately, the no save.
