Our best pitcher this year plays tonight. Should be a win if we show up offensively. Then again.... Poms pitched a beauty of a game and we lost. Will be another tough one.

Including last night, the last 10 games the last 3 in the bottom of Order, (With various players, don't matter), is 18 for 101, .178 BA with 11 RBI's.

Not asking for the world I could live with .240 with the bottom 3, and good Defense.

Moreland is likely to play tonight, and one assumes JBJ sits and Leon catches Porcello.

The Yankees came into last night as borderline invincible and could barely squeak out a 3-2 win with their ace on the mound against Pom, who has struggled this year.

Tonight we have the edge with Porcello, but Tanaka can be tough. We'll see. If it's tied in the late innings, I think the Yankees have the better bullpen. Maybe a lot better.

And there will be A700 at the game mojo as I venture into the sin palace.

Looking at your avatar and thinking of you being so deep under cover in Yankee territory, I am reminded of Mitchell Gant in Firefox.

Although your accent is much better than Gant's so I imagine you will be hard to snuff out as an enemy interloper.

Just fly the damn plane.

Holy f***. a Firefox reference. quite possibly the worst clint movie of alltime.

this 100% seals it.....Yankees are f***ed tonight..

actually with the short porch in RF it makes sense that JD would play there. just surprised.

Yup. That is my guess as well. My initial reaction was the same as yours. Then I thought about it.

@chadjennings22

Jackie Bradley Jr. sits. Mookie Betts in center field (presumably to keep Benintendi in left, where Yankee Stadium plays big). Mitch Moreland at first. Sandy Leon catching (because Porcello)

We'll see how JD does. I'm still surprised that he's played this many games in the OF. He looks adequate out there. If he was a big liability, I bet he'd be strictly a DH. (Just waiting for TS to blow up after JD makes a boneheaded play out there.)

I liked that movie. I have a friend who plays a bit part in it.

wait...betts is CF?

JD is RF?

devers dropped to 8th.

It's about time Betts got to play center. Now we can do even better Trout vs. Betts comparisons. I think Devers shores up the bottom of the order.

Good for you. Tell ya somethin' else - this thing turns out to be half as important as I figure it just might be, I'd say that you're in line for some important promotions an' personal citations when this thing's over with.

He has a pretty good arm and made maybe his best catch this year in right center at Fenway.

Nicely played...Slim Pickens in Dr. Strangelove.

I'm sure you won't find anything like that in a Yankee game thread.

it's brilliant, one of my favorite movies. It was both frightening and hilarious when my wife and I first saw it in 1964 at Fort Sill, OK.

Good lineup. Moving Devers down could help. And I like Moreland 6th. As Slasher9 says, short porch in RF should work for JD,and I think the corner is a little easier than at Fenway.

How many HR in the game tonight???

Last year those two guys were near the top in the league of HRs allowed

Porcello at 1.7 HR/9

Tanaka at 1.8 HR/9

This year Porcello has been different at only 0.4, Tanaka also improving but a lower clip his number this year is 1.3

Facing those lineups, the chances we see a few HR is high, so I'm placing the line at 4. What is your bet over/under 4 HR given up by the starters?

I'm betting OVER!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a true classic. I've seen it probably a dozen times.
