I know that what I'm going to say flies in the face of the statistics, but I still believe in protection for hitters, offensive momentum, and that some players can be 'clutch', i.e. players can will themselves to play better in certain situations.

I could be wrong about all of this but there's an approximately 140 game sample size that says that what Papi brought to the game makes a difference.

Post of the day right here boys and girls....

Cheap shot. Very cheap. He had that 3d out for a great relieve appearance with I think the bases loaded, but the ump took it away from.

It was my reverse karma. He had a good inning. Unfortunately we can't score runs.

But putting him on the bench isn't going to solve that problem. All it does is takes one of the most potent bats out of the offense.

If Kimbrel gives up a run, I give him a pass. I mean, what's the point in pitching hard when you can be sure our guys won't score in the bottom of the 9th?

The stankees will be in first place very soon thanks to these chokers. Not only does Farrell need to be fired but these f***ing players need to be held accountable for this disaster! They don't get a pass!

Devers DWAR is 0 and he has 7 errors in 34 games, which translates to over 30 errors in a season.

I hear ya. But that translates to about 1 error every 5 games and that's a risk I'm willing to take to get just a little bit of life back into this offense. And you know that's saying a lot if you've paid attention to my posts and know how much I value stellar defense!

We can talk about the weaknesses of this team till death but this s***'s inexcusable! Today it was the hitting. I wonder what DD's thinking right now

Finally Benni makes a strong and accurate throw.

Too bad it did not matter.

Good. Great in fact. Go after the 23 year old and the one guy on this team who has hit well when all others--all far more experienced at the MLB level than Beni--have been unable to hit this season. It's great to have those two terrific arms in CF and RF, but not nearly so great if they weren't such easy outs.

Apparently the Sox are waiting for the bottom of the 9th to score runs tonight.

MVP plz turn up the gain on your mojo.....

I told the dogs they'll get McDonalds tomorrow if Sox win. Still asleep on the couch.

ball one and two both caught the plate according to gamecast.

Ump has called worse pitches for strikes, but whatever.

Put him over at 1b. Dh Moreland and HR. Matter of fact tell HR not to come to the park until he gets a hair cut. How the hell can you play ball looking lie that. The one thing and only thing I like about the Yankees is the dress code.

What he can get for Devers in the offseason, most probably.

Well done, Kimbrel. Well done, ERod with a quality start when we really needed one. Well done, Sox bullpen.

Too bad it is a truism that it's really hard to win when you can't score a single run. I will repeat what I said last night. If the fans at Fenway are not booing this team, they are sheep being sheared by John Henry and his minions who failed to produce a competitive team after David Ortiz retired.
