Sure you have. Taking Porcello out with 2 outs and 2 on with 108 pitches thrown was also the right move with Scott available. Unfortunately he wasn't quite as sharp this time but at least he made that guy hit it--a liner that Beni caught. Had Farrell left Porcello in and that next better had tied the game with a bases clearing double or something, then Farrell would have been flayed for not pulling him sooner. I liked sending Scott out there, but agree he and we got a little lucky.
No, I have not. Show me a single post where I said that he was having a bad start. He has followed the blueprint of what I have always said that he needs to do to be successful, i.e. keep the ball in the park and not allow multiple HRs or multiple run HRs. Re-read my posts. Edited by a700hitter

Very solid game tonight. Porcello with an excellent start, offense is firing on all cylinders, we've made some dumb base running plays, but when do we not?

Good job by Porcillo tonight. The "gravy on the cake" (as a friend of mine would say) is that it's looking like we won't need Reed or Kimbrel tonight.

I am not very confident when we don't have kimbrel taking the ball in the 9th inning, but this lead should be secure.

I don't think either would've been available anyway. I was hoping tonight would be a blow out so bullpen wouldn't be an issue. Looks like were getting what I hoped for.

Neither Reed nor Kimbrel were available tonight.

Once we got Happ out of there, we were up against relatively inferior pitching and our guys came through. Moreland gets it done and Hanley did his job as well. Talk about aggressive base running, we have no respect for the Jays stolen base defense.

I believe many of max posts were directed towards station13 who has multiple posts on the first 3 pages of this thread harshing on big dik rik. In fact the post you responded to max saying you never said that was a direct response with quote to station13

Ya. That's what I meant. They're not available so it's good that we don't need them.

Yup. Option 1. :)

Let's face it. The Jays defense sucks and their bullpen sucks worse. + we have two more series against them!!

In addition we're done with the Yankees after this upcoming series. The Y's have no control over their own destiny. They have to depend on everyone else to beat the Sox.

But what does any of this matter?

It's a f***ing game thread. People say all types of s*** in the spur of the moment. a700 is being entirely consistent with what he always says about Porcello.

Station can say whatever he wants to say at any time ( even if he omits a word or two now and then ).

What or who gives anyone the right to question another poster's observation of game play and such?

You dicks take yourselves way too seriously.

This is just a fan page about a game.

I was simply trying to point out to a700 that it didn't seem to me that max was trying to argue with him. That is all.

Oh...,and win. Dance. Sweep.

Great point! No pressure going into the boogie down up by 5.5

IMO the most difficult part of coming to Boston & playing in the outfield may be learning how to do "The Postgame Dance".

Jonny Gomes is sooo great.

Right you are! He has a face made for radio, looking like something out of a horror movie, but he's great in the booth. He's welcome there anytime IMO.

The bottom line is that Porcello sucks, plain and simple. LOL!

How are you Spud? Do you like our chances this year?

I love the core of young players we have moving forward --not only this year--, and the pitching all around is pretty solid.

At least we can compete against anyone, and that's all I ask.

I think MVP was being sarcastic.

In any case I think Gomes is doing okay for an novice.

When I read the above, I was sure I must be mistaken. Unfortunately, I went back and reread pages 3, 4, and 5 in which in there are a string of invectives directed at Porcello as if to say nothing had changed. The particular topic was the solo dinger by the Jays in the 3d. No, you didn't say he was a having a lousy start, but you sure as heck implied that and gave zero credit at that point for going 3 innings while giving up 1 run. Finally on page 5 I said you were missing the self-evident reality that Porcello was pitching well indeed. You never came back and said he was. In fact, I had thought that after the first 2 innings because in the recent 4 game loss string that's when disaster struck in the first three games. Thus the solo dinger in the 3d didn't bother me a bit. But, if you say I just misunderstood your intent/meaning, fine. I apologize for not reading you right.

Porcello is inconsistent in his command. Not sure why but he just does not get it done much of the time.

Although he does have some good starts.

I'm okay, I guess.

The Sox are one of the "haves" in MLB.

They have a chance this year and that is what I look for.
