Kimbrel is devastating. Game over. We win!!! Farrell can put his 2 brain cells in the docking station to recharge.

Those last two cells shorted out tonight.

If he plugs into the recharger, he's likely to cause a blackout over the whole East Coast.

JF is a genius. Extend him now to a lifetime contract!

Sox are now 5 games behind the Astros to tie for best record in the AL and are up 5 1/2 game on the Yankees for the AL East. Oh, and tonight he brought in Kimbrel at the exactly right moment for the 4 out win.

I'm more than happy to give Sale, Benny, Devers, Kimbrel, et al, a ton of credit for the win. Same for the guys last night, but also for the loss Friday night.

Brilliant.

We might as well give HRam credit for the win.

First, for someone like Farrell who has been in baseball for as long as he has been, you would think that he would know that once a pitcher has thrown one pitch to a batter, that pitcher can not be removed for a relief pitcher until the at-bat is completed, except of course in the event of an injury to the pitcher. To come out of the dugout with that intent, and having the umpire remind him of that rule is embarrassing.

Secondly, much as I had hoped for a sweep, which the Sox would have achieved had not the pen imploded with a 3-0 lead in the 8th inning of the 1st game, I still think that this was a really great 3-game series from a purely baseball standpoint.

Two very good teams battling to the final out.

I am confused about the rule. I think I remember in the 1969 playoffs that Gill Hodges removed Gary Gentry from a game after going 0-2 on Rico Carty and he brought in Nolan Ryan to get the final strike.

"Embarrassing" is being too kind.

I can't remember the last time we've made it through a game without at least 2 mental blunders by players, coaches or the manager.

Keeping Barnes in when the whole world could see he was in a coma.

Pinch-hitting Moreland vs a lefty.

I'm not going to blame the best defensive player in MLB for that dropped ball, but nevertheless, it was a "blunder".

I'm glad JF finally played Devers.

I'm glad he brought in Kimbrel for 4 outs not 3.

I'm glad we've won 9 of 10 and put some distance between us and the Yanks.

I finally see some, what I have called, "fire and desire", but I'm not sure JF should get the credit for what Devers and Nunez brought to this team thanks to DD's.

Look, I'm pissed at JF, but I know you don't fire a manager after winning 9 of 10. It doesn't change what I think of him. He's an idiot.

Kimmi tried to talk me into calling him an "imbecile" or "moron" instead, but that's giving him too much credit.

The Sox had just made a mound visit while Jacoby was being announced, so Reed had to finish the next batter, unless there's an injury.

It was because of the prior mound visit. Okay, that makes sense.

I checked and Nolan Ryan did replace Gentry with a 1-2 count to face Rico Carty in Game 3 of the 1969 Playoffs, but Carty was not a PH and there was no mound visit during the AB before removing him.

• Perhaps the seminal moment of both the series and Ryan's tenure with the Mets. He was summoned to face Rico Carty with none out, two runners on base, the Mets trailing by two runs and a 1-2 count. The first postseason assignment of Ryan's career was to face the Braves' cleanup hitter with Orlando Cepeda on deck. Carty had just hit a loud foul off Gentry before Hodges made the pitching change. Carty's manager, Lum Harris, would later say, "That Carty could turn around God's fastball." But Carty couldn't sniff Ryan's. One pitch, one out.
