Multi HR games and Multi run HRs. Porcello's specialties this year. He stinks. Let's hear the rationalization about how he had good stuff but mislocated a few pitches. No, he gives up a ton of base runners and HRs.

Still, his contract is a bargain!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you damn well know that Farrell will find some positive spin for horrible base running mistakes. A 2 run game and that idiot does that.

No need to leave this board to find rationalization of the stupid base running.

All in all a good game. Porcellos last handful of starts before this game have been good. He needs to be better than he was today that's for for sure and he has been. Not worried about him. This offense has really stepped up. My god it's night and day compared to a couple of weeks ago. Let's keep it going!

The dudes a headcase.......

it's not physical ability......... he seems either locked in or locked out....

I thought until today his last 4 starts were pretty decent. Even Sale had an off day when he pitched. It happens. I still trust Porcello especially come playoffs. He might not be what he was last year but still good enough to win us games.

4.72 ERA. I think we have to admit that he sucks, and I don't trust him at all in the post season.

Trying for 3rd may have been okay but he stumbled part of the way to 3rd which killed any shot.

Steve Stone, the White Sox color man summed it up very well: "Benintendi has proven conclusively that he needs some work on base running."

We must not be talking about the same play. on second? groundball hit to your right directly at the ss and you try to advance to third? Is that the same play?

Man - you just come alive after the midnight hour.

I took a double dose of Ron Jeremy Penis Enlargement pills.

Since I am a pecker head my brain is working overtime.

Workman call up has helped this BP. Hope he continues, he was very good in Pawtucket before call up, and seems it has followed him here.

Workman looks great. It's nice to see one of these sad injury stories have a happier outcome for once.

Also, I somehow failed to realize this before, but he is one big dude!

I know Benintendi hasn't been great, but really, you guys want BRYCE BRENTZ to be our starting LF?

The funny thing is, people were making the exact same types of comments last year and early this year about Beni that they are now making about Devers.

Beni is young and inexperienced at the major league level, as is Devers. They are both going to have their fair share of growing pains.

It's pretty rare that a kid hits the bricks running and never looks back. Mookie Betts might be one of those rarities - he's had a few rough spots but overall he's been great from Day One in every facet of the game.

No. lol

Just to keep Young from playing. But Benni is a f***ing bonehead.

The play where he got thrown out on the grounder to shortstop was a bonehead play. A mental mistake.

The play where he got thrown out on the single to right field was not the best decision, but I don't think that was a bonehead play.

I would also point out that aggressive base running also resulted directly in scoring that run in the 6th inning, so it's not all bad.

Also a 4 run game. Farrell is strange. Sometimes he refuses to pull a starter before the "mark" is hit.

It seems that Farrell may be using Reed much like Tito uses Miller.

Farrell's explanation of using Reed in the 7th was to control the running game against the top of Chicago's order. Reed is apparently very good at that. A stolen base has not been attempted against him.

Porcello had been good in his last 7 starts. He had been very good in his last 5 starts. He had been excellent in his last 4 starts, with a 2.79 ERA 24 Ks against 2 BBs, averaging 7.25 innings per game. He has 0 wins to show for those last 4 performances. The offense owed him one.

Good call. I think the work of Workman has gone somewhat underappreciated.

People always forget this about young players it's hilarious. One year (and it hasn't been a bad year at all for Beni) and everyone wants to replace him. He is young and absolutely full of potential. We are first place right now and have won 3 in a row. The team is looking fantastic offensively lately. Mistakes will happen with Beni and any other young player. You hit the nail on the head with Devers. Same thing could happen with him next year or in the playoffs when the pressure is high at stake.

Or it could even happen next week with Devers. With some kids, like Pedroia, they start off looking like they don't belong, but then take off. Patience is the key.

Exactly!!! And I just bought an Andrew Benintendi red shirt..... I would be so angered if they replaced him now lol. Shirt cost me 50 dollars Canadian.

Lol. With the way people are talking about him on this forum I would be lucky to sell it for 3 dollars.

You will do better than that, but you will get killed on the exchange rate.

I have got nothing against Benintendi at all Tyler. Sweet swing for a smaller guy. I still no way of defending most of his baserunning or defensive gaffs. Physical errors are going to happen but there is no excuse for the repetitive mental mistakes that he has made. i think that it would be ok to be a little stern with him although i realize that there are some here who might be concerned for potential damage to his fragile ego. My feeling about him so far is that he is either stupid or uncoachable. Stupid i can live with - uncoachable NO.

That's fair however I think it is common with young players. Sometimes they get into a rut and make some mental mistakes and then try to hard which ends up costing them even more mistakes. Sometimes that is the price you pay putting in a young 20 year old player. They can have fantastic abilities but they are young and can make some bone headed errors. I don't blame people on the board for being frustrated with him however I don't think we should bench him and bring in someone else. It would be different if he was costing us wins and we were fighting for a wildcard spot but right now we are in the driver seat of the division and everyone seems to be getting it together offensively. I say leave it for the time being and don't shake things up too much especially with how we have been hitting the last few games.
